WCCCD Med/Surg, please help!

Published

Hello to anyone who goes to WCCCD and is past their first semester. I am having a horrible time with Med.Surg. I got a 65 on my first quiz and and 72 on the first test and that makes me failing. :( I am so upset and I dont know what to do. I feel as though I understand the material and when it comes to the test I just freeze up and everything seems so foreign. I am so afraid to fail. PLease , anyone who can offer words of encouragement, I would appreciate it.

Damaris....Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Amber, if you are out there, THANKS SO MUCH and I have your stuff, I will give you a call and bring it by whenever you are available.

As far as Desouza goes...

You can do it!!!! I failed the first test and quiz, got some extreme motivation, studied my butt off and got a 90, 92, and 83. Passed the class with an 81!! A "C" has never felt like such an accomplishment.

Ms. Desouza is a tough teacher, but you will learn a lot. Just come to class with questions!!!

HA! A "C" will make you do a cartwheel! Where did you end up? Do you have OB or M/S 2 first? Who do you have? When you get a chance, can you PM your e-mail again? I have some stuff for ya.

Also, let me add...that I am studying very hard. I don't know what else to do and I am really starting to doubt myself and thinking about remediation. I am really afraid I am going to fail. I really need some encouragement. I mean, the first quiz and test are supposed to be the easier material, it's just going to get harder...and I have to do well on everything else to pass the class. I have Desouza and I heard that "no one passes her fluid and electrolytes test" Please advise!

"Sigh" as if I werent terrified enough it being my first semester of the Nursing Program..I have DeSouza, and after hearing all I have, I think I'm gonna be a little sick....:uhoh21: I AM paying attention to all the advice though, but I dont know if that is going to be enough for me to get through this, ugh

I ended up with OB first at Wyandotte with Riley. Theory at Western. M/S at Southshore with McClesky, theory at NW.

I was picked about 10th out of our group. I really wanted M/S first, but it seemed that all 9 people before me and everyone that I talked to was going for that. Me and my friend Renee have been carpooling and and studying together thus far, so we really wanted to stick together...and we got lucky, she was called a few after me.

I am excited, but I hear that the lecture flows better if you take M/S first. Question to anyone who would know. When do we have to register by? I have been working a lot this week and haven't had a chance, and I just realized that the schools are closed until January.

We have until classes start, don't we?

Oh yeah, a couple more things....What books do we need for OB? I tried to call the Nursing office and no answer.

How are you working your Pharm class? Did you take it last semester? I really wanted to take it with Ob and Ms, because I am getting married this summer and didn't want to have to worry about school for a couple of months. But after I struggled this past class, I think I should hold off until the summer.

BTW, I will email you my email address because I still have yours D!

I am in my first semester at WCCCD Nursing Program. All I can say is that I am being taught at an incredible rate of speed and it is all I can do to keep up!.. I am getting decent grades though, but my life is study..study...and more study. There is no way around it, you have to study all the time.

Are you in an accelerated program?

SweetJean and DaMomma, I am trying to get your emails I think I sent friend requests... I am new to this site. I was wondering if I could get any advice about the MedSurg 1 stuff, as I took my first exam today and it didn't go so well after I studied my butt off...just as hard if not harder than the first 8 weeks. Thank you!
