Watts School of Nursing - May 2014

Published

I passed the HESI and submitted my application. I got a letter back a week letter saying my application was complete. I also received a background check form. I sent it back with the $40 about a week ago. I haven't heard anything since.

Does anyone know if May 2014 is full yet? If I am accepted, I am really hoping to start in May.

How long did it take for everyone's background check to come back? I'm going to call today to see if there are still slots for the June class, and sending out my background check certified today!

Kateabooo I drove my background check to them. Delivered it on a Friday and I had an email the next Friday. Hope you received good news when you called them today!!! Keep us posted!

Hey everyone! I sent in my entire application packet in early March, and the background check in the last week of March. I had a hiccup with getting the transcript from a community college that I took ONE course from (so frustrating) but I finally got that released shy of two weeks ago.

I'm starting to get nervous that I still haven't heard anything! My combined score on the HESI was a 97, my references are all nursing/healthcare professionals, and I had several people proofread the essay. I tried calling today but didn't hear anything back, maybe Spring Break?

Anyways, hoping to see you all in May/June 2014!

DJ,

You're a UNC grad, too? I graduated from the J-School in 2011 :)

I'm 99% sure the A&P class is Tuesday nights, but I don't have my MOC login info with me, so I can't double-check. The only prereq classes I don't have to take are the English/Writing one and Math, so I'm taking two online courses -- Art Appreciation (we'll see how that goes hahah) and Early Childhood Nutrition -- along with the other prereqs (Psych, Sociology, Religion, A&P). When you meet with MOC, they'll give you a (very short) list of online classes to choose from to fill your schedule. There are seriously only like 5 to choose from, so I bet a lot of us will end up together.

The way they have the schedule organized is nice, most of the time we're only in one class at a time. Some overlap a little, of course, since A&P is so long, but mostly we get to focus on one class at a time!

The orientation session is on June 5th -- I can't wait to meet you all!

Matt, the first day of class is June 9th. I'm taking one of my online courses for the first summer session, so I won't see some of you guys until the fall, but I'm hoping some of us will be in the same online classes! I'm taking Early Childhood Nutrition and Art Appreciation. The only one of the others on the list they offered (which only had like five classes to choose from) I can remember was Criminal Justice, but they all sounded fairly interesting.

I think a Facebook group would be great!

Do in-person courses not start until August? Or are some of you guys going Tuesday/Thursday in the summer?

I have an in-person course starting in July!

Lcat Thanks for posting about the A&P class! Tuesday would work out perfect! I'm crossing my fingers!!! I majored in Public Health Nutrition from UNC....graduated in 1992! Not sure which classes I'll take. I hate Criminal Justice so that is one I intend to skip! Lol I have 2 childhood nutrition classes from UNC but I'll take a 3rd if it gets me out of Math and English! I wonder if they will let us choose classes that our offered at the RTP campus? Was that a possibility? The 19th seems so far away! Looking forward to meeting everyone on June 5th! I went ahead and penciled the date in my calendar.

Thanks again,

Diane

Hey Guys!!

Sry I have been MIA...finishing up my semester at my old school before Watts this summer! I had all but one of my prereqs done already and I did receive my schedule up until December...looks like I am taking two classes online this summer and then a few more in the fall....I had to reschedule my appt to meet with MOC until May 9th...I should find out more about financial aid then!!! Can't wait to meet you all!!! Congrats to those accepted and crossing fingers for those still waiting!!!

I got my acceptance letter (email) this morning, woohoo! Can't wait to meet everyone.

I think the only pre-req I will need is anatomy and phys since it has the 5 year limit, but I'll have to wait to see what MOC says. Does anyone know if A&P start right away, or if they're later on? It'll be interesting to find other courses to fill the 18 credit hour requirement...

See you all so soon!
