I was wondering for those who have interviewed for the Washington Hospital Center RN residency program, did you need to have letters of recommendation in hand? I just received an email today that my interview is this FRIDAY. I would be coming from Seattle so this is an investment. The faculty at the school I went to are out of office until next week since we are on the quarter system. I know I can get letters mailed in but doubt I can have them by Friday.
The job posting says to bring letters, but the confirmation email I got about my interview only says to bring my licenses/certifications and college degree. No mention of letters.
If I need letters I will not bother flying out to DC which would be a shame. It's so hard for new grads to find jobs around here. I'll call HR tomorrow but am under a time crunch so was wondering if anyone had input about this?
Also thanks everyone for the tips on opening the paperwork, I just finally got it to work. =-)
I can't believe we're from almost the same area, maybe even the same town! The site won't allow me to private message, I was going to see if you had Facebook or something so we could keep in touch!
I had my physical yesterday, but I have to go back 3 more times (tomorrow and then twice next week), and I have to go to my dr to get cleared because I fx my foot last month. I did just find out that, as of today, I have an active DC license, so at least that part is done (CA says up to 6 weeks for a verification, so I didn't know when it would actually be done).
The process is a PAIN. Just out of curiosity, why do you have to go back? I'm worried because I only have one PPD and have not been fit tested yet, but one person swore up and down I could wait until orientation (so I wouldn;t have to fly again), and another insisted I had to come back... so I spoke to the manager and she said its fine to wait until orientation... I feel like I've gotten the run around a few times there, but I guess it's because the place is massive!
I have to get my PPD read tomorrow, and then I have to do the whole process again next week. I have to do my fit testing, but they only do it on Tues (from 4-5 or something) and Thurs (from 10-11), so I'm just going to do it next Thursday, when I go back for my PPD. I have a bunch of family in town because it's my oldest's birthday on Saturday, so even going down at all, tomorrow is a huge in convenience. Oh, and I have to get titers drawn for MMR and Hep B. I only have records as an adult, so they only show one MMR, and they require 2, though the reason I didn't get one before nursing school is because I had positive titers (though I can't find that paperwork anymore).
