Wanting to enroll in EC but have questions

Published

Hello,

I have been a lurker on this site for a while now and I have questions about EC. I have been a LPN for 10 years now and I want to get my RN degree. I have been looking at EC to obtain my ADN. I have seen post were you don't have to "enroll" in EC to take the test. How does that work? Also where do you take the exams. I have tried to download the nursing viewbook and the tuition pages but for some reason I can't get them to download. Any suggestions or does anyone have these and can email them to me. Thank you

Welcome to allnurses!

First you have to go on the site and register and develop a user name and past code. Once you do that then you can click on the nursing exam icon and register to take Essential in Health care Safety. It cost $205 dollars. You take all the test a your local

Pearson Vue testing center. I would highly suggest that if your having problems downloading the nursing program catalog, that you call them and get them to send it by mail or if you PM me and give me your email address, I will send it to you. The website is very confusing to maneuver so it's not all your fault.

You do not have to enroll in EC yet in order to take the Nursing Concepts 1&2 exams, but once those are completed you must enroll and pay the enrollment fee. The tests are administered at Pearsonvue Testing Centers.

Since you are an LPN you are probably exempt from NC2. You can take NC1 before enrolling. But you have to be an enrolled student to take NC3 and above. I've used the old test abbreviations. You can call the school and talk to an advisor with any questions. I believe they will look over your college transcripts for you and give you an unofficial evaluation prior to enrollment. I would advise you to take the NC1 test and see how it is, before you enroll. You can also save money by looking at the course requirements and testing out (CLEP) or taking any needed classes at a local college prior to enrolling. People who have all of their general ed classes done prior to enrolling can get through the exams and final clinical exams so much faster. The faster you finish, the more money you save, because you don't have to pay the yearly enrollment fee. Good luck.
