Want to do LPN for experience

Published

Hello fellow Nurses and LPN's.

I spoke to a good number of working LPN's and a number of LPN instructors.

I recently got into the RN program at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia, but realized I may not have the money to go through the entire program. Yes I was stupid.

I realized what I should have done was do LPN. Some LPN's tell me that I shouldn't have trouble finding a job in clinics or nursing homes, but just don't apply to hospitals. I've been looking at schools, but have to wait for 2015/2016 to get in and graduate.

My plan should have been to do LPN then transition to RN because it would have been cheaper. Plus, I'm hearing different stories about how they're trying to get rid of LPN's, yet there are jobs out there. If there are any LPN's out there, please tell me that there is good news for finding work for LPN's in 2016. I live in Georgia. I've been researching and am continuing to check around. Please help.

LPNs are used much more in LTC, home health, and offices than in hospitals. Regarding the RN program, check with Gwinnett Tech's financial aid office to see what options are available and what you may qualify for. If you do LPN then bridge to RN make sure your LPN courses will transfer to your RN bridge program, and find a bridge for LPN to BSN.
