Hello everyone. I just found out that I am selected to start my ASN for RN this August. However, I heard how difficult it can really be and how there is a lot of reading. I knew what I was getting into and with confidence and willingness I stepped into Nursing. But now I realize I may not have what it takes to get through the program. Nor do I think I would be a good nurse. When I looked at the level of patient care I thought I could handle it. I have never been afraid of approaching anything in college. This is the first time I am afraid. I don't want to get into it, waste time and money, only to find out I'm not good at it or I can't handle the unnecessary workload. I was thinking about dropping the RN program and just going LPN. I just want to go to school for a year and get a job to support myself. I am 30 years old and I don't think I have the emotional capacity to handle the workload stress of nursing program. I have been through a lot of stress in my twenties and my body is like saying, "no more, no more." I am afraid, I thought I could do it, but starting to rethink it. I have a feeling I made a mistake and should have done LPN. LPN is one year, I could get a job, and skip the unnecessary stress of RN. Perhaps someone who has been through this can offer some advice. What is the nursing program like? Why is it so stressful? Why do they make it stressful?

Dear All I got into the RN program at Gwinnett Technical College. But realized I cannot afford it. And I don't get financial aid because of a previous degree I have. I don't want to start the RN unless I can finish it, but I'm afraid I won't be able to finish it. So, I was looking into LPN. But I am hearing mixed information about LPN. From what I hear from those in the field and from most instructors is that they are not hiring LPN's in hospitals anymore, but are still hiring in nursing homes, hospices, etc.... Others have told me that you need massive amounts of experience to get a job as an LPN. I don't know who to believe. Honestly I would like to just do 1-2 years of schooling in something and get a job because I'm getting tired of school. I am in Georgia and am afraid to make a choice now because of past decisions. Is LPN a good option? Would I be able to find a job as an LPN? I'm scared to pass up the opportunity of RN, but if I must I must.

Hello fellow Nurses and LPN's. I spoke to a good number of working LPN's and a number of LPN instructors. I recently got into the RN program at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia, but realized I may not have the money to go through the entire program. Yes I was stupid. I realized what I should have done was do LPN. Some LPN's tell me that I shouldn't have trouble finding a job in clinics or nursing homes, but just don't apply to hospitals. I've been looking at schools, but have to wait for 2015/2016 to get in and graduate. My plan should have been to do LPN then transition to RN because it would have been cheaper. Plus, I'm hearing different stories about how they're trying to get rid of LPN's, yet there are jobs out there. If there are any LPN's out there, please tell me that there is good news for finding work for LPN's in 2016. I live in Georgia. I've been researching and am continuing to check around. Please help.
