Hey all,
I just applied to SUNY Brockport's BSN program last week. It's my top choice and I really want to get in. The deadline for the application is today, and they don't have an online system that updates if everything is recieved. I want to call and make sure everything is in or if I need to rush something up there but in the application cover letter it states:
Due to the volume of applicants, we cannot make or accept phone calls, or send or reply to e-mails to verify receipt of an application or report incomplete applications, including missing transcripts.
Should I try anyway and hope to get someone nice? It's one thing to wait a few months to know if you got in or not....it's completely different waiting and then finding out you didn't get in because you were missing something or part of your application was completed incorrectly. I don't know what to do!

You wait.
Ask for a confirmation from your schools that your transcript was sent in a timely manner. Similarly look for confirmation that any other pieces of the application were sent at an appropriate time. Those confirmations may ease your mind a bit.
In the future, when you see such notices, it might be best to considering hand-delivering materials (and presenting a receipt for them to sign) or sending them by certified mail or Fed EX or something which would generate a receipt.
But I don't believe that making a pest of yourself and asking for special consideration would do you much good in the long run. They have obviously had problems with such requests in the past and have established a policy on saying "no" them.

Wow, on a separate note, what an obnoxious policy that school has! You just likely paid them $50-75 to apply for admission, and they have the nerve to tell you they are too busy to let you know if your application is complete? Ridiculous. Some of these admissions offices sound like they are run by fools. Seriously, how many other industries would be successful if they treated those who provided them their business in that fashion?
(I know this is not a helpful answer, but I just had to comment :) Best of luck to you)
No I totally agree choco, lol. It's insane and annoying.
I'm still sort of tempted to call...I don't know what to do.

I have had this happen to me and I drove down to the school (not in a very good mood mind you) and asked them why it was they couldn't tell me. They didn't have a good answer and eventually I took it all the way to the Chancellor's office. I now hand deliver all items and make them sign a receipt.

FYI - most schools will contact you to let you know that they did not get something for your application. the reason why they state what they do - as everyone and their brother would be calling and they would never actually get around to putting the applications together/review them.

i applied for the fall/2011....suppose to be for the spring of 2011 but i had it deferred til fall...anyway....i received a notice last week stating my app was in and i made the minimum requirements for the RN program...and i will be notified of acceptance or not.....also said something to the affect that this is a highly competitive program and many apply and only a few spots will be filled....ya think that is their way of letting me down gently??
my point was..i received a letter...

Op- I don't think it would be a good idea to call, no matter how badly you want to. You don't want to start off on the wrong foot. I would just go over the app requirements by myself to make sure I did everything correctly, if the due date is today I doubt they would allow you to make changes anyhow.
Last post about wondering if that was a way of letting you down, I doubt it. My school was very b=negative about my chances when I transferred in. They also sent out a letter with my pre-nursing accpetance stating again how competetive it is to get in,and how it's not guaranted. Anyhow I got in on my first try and I didn't let it discourage me.
Yeah it's too late now..I just hope and pray everything's fine and I get in!
