I was thinking (watch out) and I supose if you're all ready to go with EC, have a bunch of money to register and pay for the NC exams, you could take a month or 6 weeks off work and life and take each NC exam back to back (like one per week or more) but you would be studying your toosh off or perhaps doing a less than quality job absorbing the material unless you're a genius. In that case you would get all of your NC exams done and with no prereqs besides Info literacy. You could work on your CPNE application paket (DON'T FORGET proof of CPR which is not on the final app checklist) during this time and have it ready to go by the time your last NC exam comes along. Then you would have to wait however long the wait is by then, for the CPNE and say be done with the whole thing in like 7-8 months I see, minimum! Consider yourself challenged.
I did all the NC1-7 classes in just over one month. Granted I studied very hard. I have a great job that allows me pletty of time off and a very helpful wife. It can be done (finishing the NC classes) quickly. The hold up comes with the wait for the CPNE. While waiting, I plan on completing the couple of General Ed classes I have left. If you get put on the cancellation list and can shift your schedule quickly to accomadate a cancellation by another student you can do this program in about 4-6 months if you are fortunate.
Likely not as good as a sit down nursing program. The only way I was able to do this this quick is I work for a Fire Dept. with a 24 on 48 off schedule and don't work a second job. I also, in the past, have worked at high volume emergency rooms. I might lack in say Med-Surg. I will only do ER or a Trauma facilty once I am an RN. That is where all my experience is based, in a quick paced environment. For those without a strong clinical background, I would discourage doing the NC classes as fast as I did. Another helping factor is one of my Lieutenant's is completing the "old fashion" AS Nursing program, so I had a mentor.
I had a three and a half month wait just to get a date, and due to a bunch of errors (on EC's behalf, not mine!) I received the CPNE package a few days after the date when I was supposed to accept or decline the CPNE date! So obviously I had to refuse. I go to Madison next week, Sept 15 - 18. All good thoughts and prayers for success will be gratefully accepted! I do agree about asking for a cancellation date. Sometimes you can get one right away. But you have to be prepared to travel with little notice and you have to be prepared to take the CPNE at any time. But if you can do both those, its certainly a great option.

I mailed my completed CPNE application in. I called excelsior to see when my test date would be and they said november at the earliest. So I'll be waiting 6 months to take the CPNE. Don't think its possible to do the whole program that quickly.
