Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

U.S.A. North Carolina

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

CN_2bRN919 oh, ok. I pray that all of us here on this thread gets in. I will be on the look out for the mailman tomorrow and next week. Oh gosh, this is not good:barf02:. Is that normal for them to not include the points on the letter? When I got the rejection letter last year, the points range were mentioned. hmm.

Laila34 I checked web adviser too around 6pm and its completely different when you click on the links. They took a lot of links out too. Yesterday I was thinking of printing out a copy of my program evaluation, but forgot about it. Wish I did. I hope they bring that link back.

Hey guys!! Got my letter today and I'm an alternate!! The points INCREASED 6 points from FALL 2016 (162-210)...UUGGHHHH!!!!! Point range for acceptance is 168-210 and alternates is 149-167. Best wishes everyone!!! I can breathe a little better now! :roflmao:

Laila34, so glad that you finally got your letter! Also glad that you can finally breathe a little easier now! I am sure you will get in! I have a feeling they have so many more alternates this semester than they did last semester because they may decide later to open more seats. Unfortunately I had a feeling points would increase. Wow! That's the first time that spring has been more competitive than the fall! Praying you're one of the top alternates! I'm sure you're anxious to get your alternate number!

Guess that means I didn't get it at all with 147.

Thank you!! I was TOTALLY shocked when I saw those points! You and I were JUST discussing points being higher bc of the number of applicants, and you were RIGHT! If they would've been lower than FALL, I would have been accepted. I believe that I'm only 6 points shy, so I definitely wholeheartedly have faith! Aperegoy was 6 points shy and she got in! I'm just going to keep praying and trust in God!

Don't feel bad I am an alternate for the 2nd time and probably not getting in again with 9 points less than cut off.

Laila34, did you do your background check yet?

Jpeters247 and 22bebe, CNA, don't be discouraged. Jpeters247, I would wait on your letter because you may have miscalculated and could be an alternate. 22bebe, CNA, hoping that you get in quickly. Like I mentioned to Laila34, I have this feeling that the program is possibly discussing opening more seats, that's why there are so many alternates.

So guys will I need to take a CNA class since I challenged it and was able to get 40 hours? Does the letter say something about that? Also if I re-take classes in Janurary-May, but apply January 31 will those classes counts towards Fall 2017....... Can't believe this is the route I have to take now.

Jpeters247, I would follow up with health science advising about the CNA requirement. The letter says that you can do a state approved CNA class within 5 years OR get 200 hours of paid supervised CNA work experience. It doesn't say anything about challenging the exam. Concerning spring classes, from what I understand, anything completed after the application deadline will not count toward that application. Summer classes counted this cycle because the deadline was extended to July 31st and summer course grades were posted by that date. If you want your spring courses to count toward your application, then you would have to apply next summer. That was my predicament this cycle. I took classes last spring but the only way for them to count toward my points was applying in July not January. But definitely follow up with advising! I really wish you luck!

Don't lose faith guys!! Joy cometh in the morning!!!

Jpeters, the CNA requirement is:

- complete a state approved nurse aide program within 5 years of Nursing Program Entry

OR

- 200 hours of paid supervised CNA work experience in a hospital or skilled care facility with direct patient care within 5 years of Nursing Program Entry

Guys, I got my letter too. I got in! I just ordered and paid for the background check online.

Laila34 Yes! you can breath better now! I have faith that you will get in. Some students don't even attend orientation at all! It's even stated in the letter that if they don't show up, that means they're not interested in the program anymore.

Jpeters247 I agree with CN_2bRN919. Better call health advising to be sure. Also, I think if you are currently listed as a CNA, they will base it on the expiration on the registry. If your certification is still active during the time of application, then that should suffice. But then, I am not 100% sure.
