Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

U.S.A. North Carolina

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

So I know that once accepted students complete their background check before orientation. I also noticed in the information packet from radiography that clinical requirements are due shortly before Thanksgiving (I assume NUR clinical requirements will be due around that same time). So is the background check the only requirement due immediately and everything else is due later, or will students submit other requirements periodically? I know we have to complete a drug test as well. I wonder if that will be due before November.

I'm not sure, but the moment we get those letters, I'm on it. Speaking of letters, I believe it may be next Friday as I suspected. Here's a response I got from the school.

Jocelyn, Yes, the letters must go to Main Campus and then the Post Office. You should have a letter by next Friday. 59 students received acceptance letters with 60 alternates.

I have no idea when any of that would need to be done by. I'm guessing they'll fill us in at orientation or maybe even our letter. Wonder where we would even go for the drug test or if that's done with our physical? Hopefully they'll give us enough time because I don't know how long it will take me to schedule an appointment with my physician.

Also anyone that's gets the letter, please let us know the point range as soon as you can!! Lol

Yeah Jpeters247, I'm thinking everyone will have a letter by next Friday regardless. The lady I emailed said this:

"Acceptance letters are being sent to the Main campus today to be mailed out. So I'm guessing they'll be in the mail Friday or Monday. Alternates and declines are being mailed out Monday or Tuesday."

So at least we know we definitely have less than a week

Oh wow! I didn't realize they were sending the letters out in different groups. I thought all letters would have been mailed at once. It sounds like we will all have letters by next Friday. Accepted students may get their letter a day or so before everyone else. Does the program typically have that many alternates? I wonder if they may open more seats this spring, they're just not sure how many or when.

Just looked back at a past post on the Fall 2016 thread. There were 61 seats for Fall 2016 and 48 alternates. So there really aren't that many less seats this cycle than last cycle... only 2 less. There are definitely more alternates which makes me think that they're thinking about opening more seats for spring 2017, but they aren't sure how many or when. Of course I'm sure it takes time to make that call because it depends on clinical availability, the amount of "second go rounders", and department approval.

You were able to just go up to the Health and Science Campus yesterday to pick up your letter, or to the Main Campus library room today. There were technical issues with printing letters yesterday, otherwise I would have informed you all of the points range. And today I'm working a 12hr shift at Rex so I couldn't just go on campus. í ½í¸¢

bgo26, that is awesome to hear! I might call the library room to confirm! Did health science advising tell you this?

OMG! someone on here has to go pick up their letter and tell us the point range or call the health science campus.

This wait is terrible. Why didn't they tell us we could have just picked up the dang letters!!??!:banghead:
