Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

Published

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

Yes.........please done wish the summer away just yet my friend. We will need this summer when we're accepted! I take my TEAS again on the 17 of this month. Wish it would've been in July, but my coverage for work seems pretty slim to none and those dates aren't posted on the Wake Tech website yet. Any advice on what to study, look out for? I mean, I have taken it recently, but I cant wrap my head around what I'm doing wrong. Anyway, I'm still excited about September and finding out. With how things have occurred over the semesters, I'm sure it'll be October and we'll be calling Watkins 247. I have a few things to keep me busy, daughter going to first grade, son turning 3, beach, work, LIFE!

Jpeters, you sound like you have a busy and fun summer ahead of you! When it comes to the TEAS, take as many practice exams as you can. I used the ATI practice book as well as the McGraw Hill 5 TEAS Practice Exam book. I think you should focus on studying what you did poorly on first, and then reviewing the other material that you are already somewhat comfortable with. Hopefully since you have taken it before you will be more comfortable. Trying not to wish the summer away! I heard it takes about 6-8 weeks after the application deadline to rank students, so fingers crossed we find out before October.

Hi ladies!! Well, I completed my CNA requirement as of June 2nd!! Passed the course with an A..Woot! Now on to take my state exam June 24th! I rescheduled my TEAS until June 23rd so that I'm COMPLETELY confident and sure that I will pass with a 90% of higher!! I can't wait until September when we start receiving those acceptance letters! Best wishes to all!

Congrats Laila34!! I'm sure you feel like a huge weight has been lifted now that your class is finished! Good luck on both your TEAS and NACES!! Did your CNA class already include the clinical hours, or are you picking up some hours this summer? Is this the first time you're taking the TEAS?

Thank you!!! I'm excited!! We did a mock state exam on the last day of school and I passed all 5 skills in 22min. Yes, my 40 clinical hours were included...YIPPY!! This will be my 2nd time taking the TEAS. I took it back in 2012 and did just ok. This time I will be more prepared and confident!

How's everyone out there doing. I take my TEAS again this week. Please pray I get my 12 points. It's so bothersome to have to deal with this once again. I was looking at previous post from Fall 2015 Wake Tech applicants and when I saw the accepted points minus the TEAS, they were pretty low, as in 140-147. Like those 50 points are what really helped students in the past making their points able to be in the 190 plus range. I cant wait to see how this will play out. It's going to get REAL come September first. I'm stalking my mailbox from that day forward, lol

Hey! Glad you posted something bc I miss our curiosity, frantic, and informational posts...Tehe!!! Good luck this week! I'm sure you'll be fine. I was scheduled this week also but elected to do it in July. I take my CNA state exam this Friday..yaaayyy!!

Yeah, trust me...... I enjoy the post as well. I just know it's gonna be overkill after the application deadline. So you take your test Friday huh, that's great! I know you're gonna do good and I'm glad that you decided to push back the teas, that would've been team too much. One thing at a time. My skills were the bed pan, hand washing, dentures, radial pulse and catheter care. Whew...... My stomach is hurting just thinking about it!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! I didn't realize it would fly by as fast as it has! Before we know it, it will be July! Of course I'm counting down until the end of September, but enjoying my days up until that time. In about a month applications will be due and then it will really be getting down to the nitty gritty. Anyone heard anymore about points for the spring? I always have this nagging thought in the back of my mind that I'm going to forget one small detail and it will keep me from being a qualified applicant. I can't be the only one thinking that, right? lol

Well everyone, I'm back in the same boat..........and this time for good. Last go around it was 68 on the TEAS and I practically did the same. I'm so discouraged......I at least wanted to be at or above 150. With all classes completed and the grades I've obtained leaves me with 147. I hope it's good because like I mentioned before, minus the teas when it was 50 points, and students got in with 180-190, that meant they really had 130-140 points. Being in the 150's would have really helped me.

Awe..I'm so sorry to hear that. It's going to work out and you're going to be fine. I know you are hurt right now but just know that, joy cometh in the morning!! Stay prayerful!!

On a slight scary note for me..I take my CNA state exam tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous about the written more less the skills. I've been practing skills on my daughter and I feel very comfortable. Be blessed

Thanks my friend. Joy will come in the morning. Cant wait to here that you're officially a CNA. Keep us posted!
