Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

Published

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

Nice! It's always great knowing where you stand! How many points will you have kala082008 if you don't mind me asking...?

Hi all! I got an email this past week saying that my financial aid had been dispersed (although I won't actually get it since I'm not taking classes fall semester), but I have yet to receive my refund information in the mail. Anyone else applying for financial aid at WTCC for the first time? Wondering when I'll receive that information in the mail... or if anyone had received theirs recently. Like mentioned before, I won't actually get any funds this semester since I'm not taking classes, but I'm trying to have everything set up with the hopes of getting into the ADN program in the spring!

When you say refund information, are you referring to getting a refund or details in regards to what you've been awarded. If so, like you said, no classes means no bill, means no refund. However, to see what you will get for this semester and next, look into web advisor and then account summary by term. Of course this term is this semester and they'll divide into two semester. What you don't use this semester goes back to the "loan" and the remaining portion you had left for Spring 2017 will still sit there until you register come November or so. Then I'd say February is when you will actually receive a real refund IF you have money left over. Trust me, everything is set up for Spring if you've received this information already. It's good for the whole 2016-2017 year. However, considering we'll take summer classes next year, It may be wise to save any money that you will be refunded for that time.

Is that the case, spring 17, summer 17 , fall17 , spring18 , fall 18?

Not the physical refund because since I'm not taking classes in the fall I won't get one. Just the information to set up the refund--- if there is one to recurve after everything is paid to the school--- so that everything is in place for the spring. I was told by financial aid I would still get that information in the mail... just wondering when it would come. The information I am referring to is the packet from BankMobile (formerly HigherOne) that gives the information on how to set up how you want to receive your refund such as having it deposited into an already existing checking account, or having it put on a debit card, or having a check sent. Again, if there is a refund to receive. Since I am only taking NUR classes (I have completed all other classes) based off of the amount I accepted and the cost of classes, textbooks, extra etc I should still have some leftover which I planned to use for summer since I won't be eligible for aid since I'll only be taking 5 credit hours.

Jpeters... (or anyone else)... did you receive an email last week saying that you had been awarded by financial aid for the 2016-2017 school year? Trying to decipher what the emails means as I accepted my award over a month ago and turned in all other components. I understood that email to be the money has actually been dispersed for the 16-17 school year? Anyone familiar with financial aid enough to know what that email meant? Is it just a repeat email letting me know my award letter was posted?

Yeah, I believe I did. They do send multiple of those emails out. Your best bet is to just call. They also keep pretty good info on web advisor with regards to your account. It really doesn't matter at this point considering we're not taking any classes this semester. If you've received any financial aide information, it pretty much means that your money is here waiting on you for when and if you register. Wake Tech is really good about telling you every process that is occurring. They send on when you've meet the requirements, when money is posted, when you receive a refund, etc.

So the school sends out an email when your refund is available?

Yup, there's also a refund schedule and they're pretty accurate. Higher One sends you an email to expect it in a few days and it also lets you know when they've deposited it.

On another note, just a few more days to deadline. I'm dying to know how many people have and will apply for January 2017. I'm so excited. 2BRN do you work full-time? What are your hours now and what will you do when school starts?

Thanks for all the information Jpeters247! I'm worrying about everything now so I don't have to worry about it later lol. I do work full time but my hours are pretty flexible. Once classes start I still want to work as much as I can, as long as it doesn't interfere too much with my grades. I actually get the opportunity to do a lot of studying while at work. More than I do while at home. I work in a private practice where the physician values education.. ;) I work about 40 hours a week (maybe a little less) in addition to one weekend a month. When/if I get into the program, I will probably try to work evening hours depending on which group I'm in and the hours of my classes and clinical. I will probably also pick up more weekends. In addition to all the things I pay for already, I want to pay as much out of pocket for this program as I can.

The application deadline came so fast!! 11 days... well 12... I heard they're accepting applications on 8/1 since 7/31 is a Sunday.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! For all of you guys who have already turned in your application, or those who will be turning in their application in the next week, we'll more than likely know whether or not we got into the clinical phase in about 8 weeks!! Although that sounds like it's still forever away... compared to the overall wait we've had to endure to get to the clinical phase, 8 weeks is just around the corner!! We're almost there!! Just a little encouragement :)

I knoooooow! I'm finding myself wishing August away, lol. I know I need to slow my roll right? It's so nerve recking. I emailed Beth Watkins what she thought about my 147 and what transpired when students had the same amount of points. She said that based on last spring I should have a good chance and they bases the same points on who met the minimum requirements first. I was trying to get out of her how many applicants applied thus far, but of course that didn't happen, lol.

I can't wait until those letters go out. This will be my number one outlet once I receive the letter. I just have to make sure I don't read any post if someone post their acceptance with the points because i don't want to find out online.... Know what I mean!

I think I'm going to blog about everything that moment forward, lol. I don't have Facebook but I'm seeing that a lot of the cohorts before us had them and a section for it

I am trying so hard not to wish August away as well Jpeters247! I'm sure I'll look back and say I should have taken advantage of all of my free time lol! I wonder how often students tie for points? Those minimum admissions requirements that she is referring to are the math, reading, writing, chemistry proficiency etc? I'm trying not to focus on past points too much since the TEAS is different. I am curious too as to how many people have applied thus far!! I did look at a thread for Spring 2016 (applications that were due July 2015) and saw that letters were mailed the week of 9/18! If it's around the same timeframe this cycle, that's about 57 days... but who's counting? ;)
