Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.
That sounds like something I should do as well with looking to see how many credits I am away from hitting my max. Who did you contact for that; can it be done over the phone or through email? When I first started Wake Tech, I opted for the higher one card. The refunds are credited back to the student on the same day. When you accept the funds through checking account, it's normally 5 days later. So, it's personal preference. Once you choose your preference once, you wont have to do it again unless you want to change your refund distribution options.
I'm eager as well. I truly believe with your points you'll make it in. We'll be emailing back and forth I'm sure the whole month of August. Trying to promise myself not to become so knutty in the process of waiting. After I take this TEAS test again next month and my feet touch the sand for a week long vacation at the beach; it will be then that I put all this behind me and wait on the Lord to move. I'll let it consume me after September because this process has and will drive you nuts, lol. And I cant let it, I wanna save the crazies for in the program, lol.
I definitely know how you feel Jpeters! I need a vacation!!
I will pm you her information. I contacted her via email and she responded fairly quickly. I had already sent in an appeal, and when she read my email she decided to recalculate my credit hours by hand. She said that most of my credit hours are outside of what is needed for the ADN program, and that I still had 67 credits I could use toward my program. I didn't realize the maximum timeframe thing was program specific, I thought it was just a general amount of time you were allotted to finish a degree.
Not sure if you remember, but when you first had the option to decide how you wanted them to award you (checking, HigherOne etc), did you choose that option on WebAdvisor? Do they send you information in the mail? Just trying to figure out how I would set that up...?
CN_2bRN919, I also had a titer and I was not immune even though I had the shots. Sometimes it takes more than one series and some people never get immunity. What I did was uploaded the records for the series that I did get and not the titer. That's what you should do too. Upload the records for the series you got but not your negative titer. That way you get checked off for it and do not have to worry about it. Then after you finish your new series you can go back and upload your new records. If you do not you will probably have to sign a waiver until your new series is complete. I also plan to do the series again to try to get immunity.
Hi CN_2bRN919, Sorry for the delay, I've been out of town and now starting a new job. The TEAS wasn't too bad. I got 88%, which I think was because I spent extra time studying how to do the math problems. I did horribly on the science though even though I just took both A&Ps! I think I should've reviewed more basic stuff about atoms.
They told me the TEAS will be changing (in August I think?), so you can use a calculator. I imagine this will change the types of problems, since they won't really test manual calculations.
EmilyNicole91, I was having a conversation with a nurse at work and she said the exact same thing, I could do this second series and still not build immunity, which honestly is kind of a scary thing since we'll be exposed to so many different things as a nurse. Hopefully this series works. But I will more than likely do exactly what you said, upload the series that I had years ago, and then update my information after November. I wonder how soon after your last shot they do a titer. I wonder if you have to wait and come back in a couple of days, or if they can draw labs that same day. I'll probably ask whenever I go in for my second shot in the next couple of weeks.
Kala082008, no worries! Congrats on your new job! I haven't heard anything about the TEAS changing. But I do know that back in the day students used to be able to use a calculator. If that's true, maybe I'll take it again. Although the math isn't what I bombed, I did well on math and science, it was reading and English I didn't do too hot on. Kala, forgive me, but I can't remember. Did you already get in for fall 2016? Or are you applying in the spring?
CN_2bRN919, I'm applying for the spring term. I'm planning to take the intro to sociology CLEP, which will get me the points as if I'd taken the class and earned a B. I figure that's a lot cheaper than actually taking the class, and I think it'll be enough points. Have you heard any updated info about how many points are needed for spring? I'm aiming for to get over 160.
That's crazy about the Hep B titer -- now I'm wondering if I should get one too since I'm about to start a hospital job. Kinda scary...
Kala082008, I haven't heard anything about points for the spring! I went to the information session last Friday hoping that she might mention points for the upcoming cycle, but she didn't really talk about points too much. She did say that she felt the fall was VERY competitive, so I'm thinking that if you have 162+ you'll easily secure a seat. At least that's what I'm thinking. It's so hard to predict. I'm thinking you'll be fine with 160. Good luck in your class! :)
Jpeters247, I got my award today! Woohoo! Finally!
Jpeters247, how does finacial aid work when it comes to purchasing textbooks at the student bookstore? Do students have to buy textbooks on certain days? It looks like in the past the bookstore posted a schedule as to when they would accept financial aid...? Do students swipe their HigherOne/debit card, or do they swipe their student ID to purchase? I know the bookstore website said students using financial aid needed to have a student ID when they came to purchase their books. Can students preorder books online with financial aid and pick them up in store?
At my previous institution, the financial aid first paid for classes/one time fees/etc ... then when the refund was put on a HigherOne card, you went to the student bookstore whenever you wanted to get your books, and you swiped your financial aid debit card (HigherOne).

Praying for your family Jpeters247! You, my friend, sound like you have a lot going on! A friend of mine recently graduated from a BSN program and accepted a position as an ER nurse. I would love to do that or labor and delivery. I'm still looking out for my award email. I did the promissory note as well as the terms and conditions weeks ago. I emailed a financial aid advisor and was told they just started posting awards, so hopefully I will get mine soon. I also found out earlier this week that I do not need an appeal, and I am 67 credits away from hitting my maximum timeframe. Praise The Lord!! My advisor recalculated my credits since most of the credits I have are not for the ADN program. Now I'm in satisfactory standing. Relieved!! You guys, I am so eager to hear back from the program!! September can not come soon enough! 14 weeks!!
EmilyNicole91, I decided to get a titer for Hep B even though I have proof of getting the vaccinations in the past, only to find out I'm not immune. Since I have all this time on my hands, I decided to start the series again. Did they say that you could be in the middle of the series when you turn in your paperwork, or does the series have to be completed? I won't get my last shot until the end of November, and clinical paperwork for me would be turned in before then.
