Is anyone applying to Wake Tech's ADN program for the Fall 2020? How many points do y'all have?

MDF’s are less expensive than the Litmann, it was good enough for taking BP’s, but I could always hear my fingers crackle, which was frustrating.

I noticed as well that they hadn’t posted the book when you search the class. I have been adding things to my amazon cart however ?. Has anyone on here used a Litmann classic stethoscope for their CNA class? I have an MDF, and it works well enough, but was thinking about upgrading to a litmann since I can hear my fingers crackle with mine, but not sure if it’s worth it if you can still hear finger crackles.
Hi,
So I used a Littman Classic III stethoscope for years as a paramedic and can speak highly of it. It does not eliminate ambient noise nor noise from your fingers on the bell entirely, but most stethoscopes don't. That being said, even in a noisy ambulance I was able to clearly auscultate breath sounds, heart sounds, and obtain a manual blood pressure with no problem. As far as comparing Littman to your MDF stethoscope, which MDF model do you have? The dual tube or the single tube?

I think you'd notice a big difference between that one and a Littman classic. The only MDF that I thought was comparable is the stainless steel one. Hope that's helpful!
Btw, hi everyone! I've been creepin' on this forum for a couple weeks looking for updates about acceptance letters. Thanks for sharing the info! Glad they finally sent out the emails/letters.

I am starting my pre-req classes for nursing this Summer at Wake Tech and I have been trying to find info on how to get in to their program. I am hoping to apply for next Fall 2021 nursing or Spring 2022. Can anyone give me advice on the TEAS? I am terrible in math and that's really the only main concern I have for the TEAS test....

For the TEAS I bought the ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide. It included practice test which helped me brush up on some things. When I took it, I literally signed up like a few weeks before and I had a really bad headache. For the math, I don't recall it being too too difficult, I came out with a 100% on that part. Overall, knock out some practice test, that should help.
The nursing school requires that you attend the information session (although I’m not sure what they are doing with the school campuses being closed) and they discuss the requirements for applying. There are 9 pre-req classes and they give you points based on the grades you earn in each of those classes. When you are ready to apply to the nursing program, they total those points up and rank you by your points based on who applies for that particular term. The TEAS test is a standardized test given at the school after you take BIO 168, BIO 169, BIO 175 and English I believe. There are tutorials out there and workbooks and practice tests for the TEAS. The TEAS test was the last thing I did before applying and you want to give yourself some time to study for this test but they give you points toward your ranking based on how you do on the test. Hope that helps!

I would definitely be sure to take anatomy 1 & 2 before taking the TEAS. I took it twice (once before and after taking A&P) and it was a difference between getting a 84 and a 92 on the TEAS. Attend the nursing information session for sure. They are very helpful at wake tech.

The most strategic plan would be to organize your schedule to optimize point gain. A&P 1 and 2, and micro are worth the most points in terms of the classes. I would make sure you can give your highest effort in them. I'm also not sure what your money situation is, but it might be good if you can allot to take your TEAS twice. Once so that you know what to expect and know where you need improvement and then a second time to improve your score (if necessary). Also, I wouldn't be afraid to reach out and ask for help either from this forum and the school. I would always be happy to offer tutoring as would a lot of others I'm sure. Anyway, rant over. Good luck! ??,
