Waitlisted for Linfield Nursing

Published

Hey everyone,

I applied to Linfield's nursing program starting in spring of 2016. I didn't get a rejection letter, but didn't get an acceptance one either. The letter stated that I had been put on the waitlist. After contacting ---------- over at the admissions office, she let me know that I was #12 on the list. My question is whether anyone has ever been waitlisted, and if so, what was the outcome? I know each school is different due to capacity, but I was just trying to get a feeling for what to expect. I feel as though my number is a little out of reach, but you never know. Any feedback would be great! Good luck to everyone out there!!

Hey- I was wait listed too! Contacted --------------- and said I was top ten.... I'm feeling hopeful but also so nervous because I was wait listed for Fall entry too and never heard a peep. So hard to be this close to getting in! This is my 3rd time applying. ------------- said we should know more after the Nov. 1st deadline. Any other waitlisters out there?? Or people declining their spots to offer us hope?!

Hi Nat,

Well I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone in this! You said that this was your 3rd time going through this? Have you been on the waitlist each time? Do you remember which number on the list you were? It'd definitely be nice if people backed out of this nursing program so we could get in, haha!

I wonder how many people they actually put on a waitlist. I guess it's better than being rejected...right?

Did you have a pretty high GPA and a medical work history?

Hi guys!

I also applied for Linfield Spring 2016 and was placed eleventh on waitlist... I gave the admissions office a call, and she told me so far that by Feb. 8th is the last day to be on the waitlist, but she also mentioned that sometimes they could take all the students on the waitlist, and other quarters they don't take any at all. So I'm excited too, and hope that maybe at least 12 people decide to go to another school.. :)

And you're right, it's better than being rejected.. Anyways it would be nice if people could let us know if they've are on the waitlist and are getting in.. The admission person also said that she'll be giving us a call if we're getting close to the top of the waitlist, so that we could start on the immunizations, and stuff like that!

Hi Student!

Glad to hear more people are coming out of the woodworks, haha. That comment you made about accepting people from the waitlist got me a little excited, but nervous at the same time! It'd be great if we all got in! I live in Seattle, so for me, it'd definitely be nice to have enough time to give my job good enough notice and to get all of my finances in order before making the big move, although I'm sure most people are in that position.

Is this your first time through this process?

Yea, I was really excited about that too, and spring is a popular season for the start of different nursing programs so people enroll to different nursing schools and Linfield might not even be their first choice, which makes me a little hopeful... if that makes sense..

This is my first time applying to a nursing program, I also applied to Clark Nursing program in vancouver wa.. but yes I really hope we could all get into Linfield.

Ooh Seattle is quite far, it would be good to know ahead of time for that. Maybe you could start looking into housing close to here just so you could know what to expect.

Is this your first time applying to a nursing program?

Yay more people! Wow sounds like we are all on a similar place in the waitlist line! When I was waitlisted last time (fall start) I was told I was "pretty far down" lol.. Hey at least they're honest!

Student- I liked hearing that multiple programs have a spring start! It's nice to know that some years they take the whole waitlist ! (Fingers crossed!)

J-Shut- My first time applying to Linfield it was a big fat no, second time I was deep on the waitlist. I'm curious why they told you guys your exact number and not me ... I'll have to figure that out. Ahhhhh the suspense!!!

Thanks for starting this thread, feels good to talk about this!

Hi! I was interested in the program. Do you guys have high teas test scores and high GPA?

Hi Natnat, Well i'm glad to hear that you went from a big fat NO to being put on the waitlist. Do you mind me asking you how far down you were on the waitlist the 2nd time? And she basically told me where I was on the waitlist because I emailed her and asked her where i was. They didn't state in the letter at all.

Student: Yea, Seattle is definitely not that close. Luckily I have a few friends whose place I could couch surf at for a few weeks, but that is a whole other level of stress that I prefer not to deal with, especially while getting acclimated with nursing school! But whatever I have to do I guess. But yes, this is my first time applying to a nursing program.

Hi Sandies: Linfield actually doesn't require a TEAS or HESI test in order to apply to their program. Kind of weird, I know, but I'm going to take it next month so that I can apply to other schools in January (assuming I dont get in to Linfield). My GPA actually isn't that high. I have a 3.7 (barely). I think what may have helped me was the fact that I graduated with a degree already (2008) and have been working for about 7 years. I have zero experience in the medical field, so Linfield was one of my first choices since they don't require it. Hope this helps you out.

Was anyone actually notified yet of being accepted? My boyfriend applied and just recently moved so he's concerned about not having heard anything yet.

Hello!

J Shut- Sounds like we have pretty similar "stats". I have a 3.7 pre req GPA, a prior bachelors degree, CNA , and some current medical experience. When I was on the waitlist before I wasn't told the number but I think "pretty far down" was their way of saying I had a slim chance ! But I think the fact that you are #12 is a good place to be. I've heard rumors of a long waitlist line so I think there is hope! I just wish we knew if anyone was declining their spot...;)

Lb1130- I haven't heard of any acceptances. Maybe search other threads on here??
