  1. Just wanted to let you guys know I got in!!! I received my email today. Looks like we'll be spending the next few years together! My name is Erick by the way.
  2. Hey student_nursing, congrats on getting in! And yea, I am/was #12 on the list. It's weird that I haven't heard anything yet! I know they have my correct email address because I had spoken to the girl at admissions earlier this month. I will send her an email tomorrow to see what's going on... Makes me a little nervous now! Regardless, congrats on getting in! Hopefully I get in as well and we can all formally meet!
  3. Hey Student_Nursing, Have you heard anything yet? Figured i'd ask you since you're the only other one on this thread that hasn't gotten in yet! Also, because you are one in front of me :)
  4. AHHH man, I'm honestly happy for you guys! Natnat, its been a long time coming, eh?? You deserve this! SnowAngel, so do you! So if snowangel was number 5, then that means that I'm probably down to #7 on the list. Oh man, I'll be praying for an email. I didn't hear anything today unfortunately, but hopefully in the next few days I hear something. ANYTHING, lol. Congrats, you two. I'll keep you posted on what I hear, if anything.
  5. I also forgot to ask. Do you guys know if Linfield has a rolling waitlist? Or does it restart with every application cycle? I think in previous years they may have done this, but I'm not exactly sure anymore. I was reading some of the threads from 2010!
  6. Ah man, so excited! Hopefully we all hear something soon! This is the only monday i'm excited about! Keep us posted.
  7. One more week, guys! Has anyone heard anything yet?? I have decided to make the move down to Portland at the end of the year with or without being accepted. Figured I'll end up down there anyways, so why not get a jump on it? Hopefully everyone is doing a better job at being patient than I am!
  8. I had to stop searching and just give myself a break! Like you said, there's no point in stressing out about something you cant' control. And yea, moving to Portland before finding out is definitely something that scares the life out of me, but we'll see. I also thought about emailing the admissions person, but maybe its just best to wait until Nov. 2, eh?
  9. Haha, you're telling me. I've checked this forum 100 times. As well as threads for other schools in Portland. I need to stop giving myself an anxiety attack and just wait. I have the opportunity to actually move to Portland in the next 2 months, but I'd have to quit my job here in Seattle and go into the unknown. Its either I move in Jan, with an acceptance letter, or move in Jan without one and looking for some random job! November 1st can't come soon enough!
  10. Has anyone received any updates?
  11. Snowangel, Dont lose hope! Thats all we've got! What's your GPA if you dont mind me asking? Also, the thing I like about Linfield is that they dont base their decision solely on GPA. I'm sure there are other students out there who have higher GPA's and are also in our position. With regards to the Intro to Organic and Biochem, I dont think you have to actually take it, but you have to take some chemistry based sequence. You may have already taken it, but I was informed after I turned in my application that I was missing a part of that sequence, and was able to get into this class at the last second. So if you weren't contacted with regards to the classes, then I'm sure you're fine.
  12. Hi Snowangel, It seems as though you should have received at least some sort of letter at this point... I would actually just call the girl at the admissions office and ask her. She seems very willing to help and answer questions. Or you could always email as well. She's good at getting back to you within a day or so. As far as GPA, I got a B in both Microbiology, and general chemistry. I'm currently taking intro to organic and biochem. Hope this helps you out in some way. Good luck! Let us know if you get a letter!
  13. NatNat, well glad to hear you're not far down on the waitlist this year! Sounds like its been a long time coming. And I hear you...it'd be great to know sooner than later on whether people were declining, haha. But then again, there are a lot of factors to consider before going into a program like this, right? And Mistiq1: You know, I dont have too much left over for federal aid after I've received a bachelors already. The thought of taking out more loans for me is definitely scary. I've heard that Linfield offers some financial aid and scholarships, but I dont know the extent of them. For me personally, I'm hoping that I'd be able to apply for some scholarships due to the fact that I'm a hispanic male. I know there are a few out there, but in the overall scheme of things, is probably a drop in the bucket when compared to the overall tuition. I agree with you though...80k is really....really absurd for a college education considering the fact that we would come out of there making less than that per year.
  14. I was literally going to ask the same question! I would definitely like to have a job, but maybe I should wait to see what my nursing workload/time will look like. My other question was going to be whether it mattered what kind of job you got? Would it be more beneficial to get something within the medical field, or does that really matter at all? I've seen people hold some sort of desk job where they get to study the majority of the time.
  15. Hi Natnat, Well i'm glad to hear that you went from a big fat NO to being put on the waitlist. Do you mind me asking you how far down you were on the waitlist the 2nd time? And she basically told me where I was on the waitlist because I emailed her and asked her where i was. They didn't state in the letter at all. Student: Yea, Seattle is definitely not that close. Luckily I have a few friends whose place I could couch surf at for a few weeks, but that is a whole other level of stress that I prefer not to deal with, especially while getting acclimated with nursing school! But whatever I have to do I guess. But yes, this is my first time applying to a nursing program. Hi Sandies: Linfield actually doesn't require a TEAS or HESI test in order to apply to their program. Kind of weird, I know, but I'm going to take it next month so that I can apply to other schools in January (assuming I dont get in to Linfield). My GPA actually isn't that high. I have a 3.7 (barely). I think what may have helped me was the fact that I graduated with a degree already (2008) and have been working for about 7 years. I have zero experience in the medical field, so Linfield was one of my first choices since they don't require it. Hope this helps you out.
