Waitlisted for Linfield Nursing

Published

Hey everyone,

I applied to Linfield's nursing program starting in spring of 2016. I didn't get a rejection letter, but didn't get an acceptance one either. The letter stated that I had been put on the waitlist. After contacting ---------- over at the admissions office, she let me know that I was #12 on the list. My question is whether anyone has ever been waitlisted, and if so, what was the outcome? I know each school is different due to capacity, but I was just trying to get a feeling for what to expect. I feel as though my number is a little out of reach, but you never know. Any feedback would be great! Good luck to everyone out there!!

Hi guys,

I had a quick question for everyone. If yall happen to get accepted, considering how expensive Linfeild is, what plans do you have to pay for your tuition?.

Loans? Scholarships, if so, what organizations?

Graduating with a $80,000+ loan sounds ridiculous.

NatNat, well glad to hear you're not far down on the waitlist this year! Sounds like its been a long time coming. And I hear you...it'd be great to know sooner than later on whether people were declining, haha. But then again, there are a lot of factors to consider before going into a program like this, right?

And Mistiq1: You know, I dont have too much left over for federal aid after I've received a bachelors already. The thought of taking out more loans for me is definitely scary. I've heard that Linfield offers some financial aid and scholarships, but I dont know the extent of them. For me personally, I'm hoping that I'd be able to apply for some scholarships due to the fact that I'm a hispanic male. I know there are a few out there, but in the overall scheme of things, is probably a drop in the bucket when compared to the overall tuition. I agree with you though...80k is really....really absurd for a college education considering the fact that we would come out of there making less than that per year.

hi guys,

as of today, i still havent recieve my letter yet and its nerve racking. can i ask ppl on waitlist, u said ur gpa was around 3.7. how many Bs is that?

Hi Snowangel,

It seems as though you should have received at least some sort of letter at this point... I would actually just call the girl at the admissions office and ask her. She seems very willing to help and answer questions. Or you could always email as well. She's good at getting back to you within a day or so.

As far as GPA, I got a B in both Microbiology, and general chemistry. I'm currently taking intro to organic and biochem. Hope this helps you out in some way. Good luck! Let us know if you get a letter!

hi J-shut

yeah i called and they resend me the letter, omg u only have 2 Bs and on waitlist, i have no hope left then :(

why ru taking ochem and biochem? Linfield doesnt require that. i assume this is for other schools right?

i will let u know if i get the letter. good luck to u too

Snowangel,

Dont lose hope! Thats all we've got! What's your GPA if you dont mind me asking? Also, the thing I like about Linfield is that they dont base their decision solely on GPA. I'm sure there are other students out there who have higher GPA's and are also in our position.

With regards to the Intro to Organic and Biochem, I dont think you have to actually take it, but you have to take some chemistry based sequence. You may have already taken it, but I was informed after I turned in my application that I was missing a part of that sequence, and was able to get into this class at the last second. So if you weren't contacted with regards to the classes, then I'm sure you're fine.

Has anyone received any updates?

No updates here... thought maybe someone would have heard something by now.. Nov. 1st is the deadline to accept so hopefully some spots open up? This is so nerve wracking not knowing! :/

Haha, you're telling me. I've checked this forum 100 times. As well as threads for other schools in Portland. I need to stop giving myself an anxiety attack and just wait. I have the opportunity to actually move to Portland in the next 2 months, but I'd have to quit my job here in Seattle and go into the unknown. Its either I move in Jan, with an acceptance letter, or move in Jan without one and looking for some random job!

November 1st can't come soon enough!

I feel the same way! I've literally scoured the internet in search what my chances of getting in are... which is so pointless and I'm stressing myself out too! Wow you have a big decision to make in terms of moving to Portland with the unknown. Surely there has to be someone who has turned down their spot?! If so, please let us know :) I thought of emailing the admissions person to ask if there has been any movement on the waitlist but I don't want to bother her.. Maybe I'll wait to email until Nov. 1st deadline. Ahhh! This is driving me crazy!

I had to stop searching and just give myself a break! Like you said, there's no point in stressing out about something you cant' control. And yea, moving to Portland before finding out is definitely something that scares the life out of me, but we'll see. I also thought about emailing the admissions person, but maybe its just best to wait until Nov. 2, eh?

One more week, guys! Has anyone heard anything yet?? I have decided to make the move down to Portland at the end of the year with or without being accepted. Figured I'll end up down there anyways, so why not get a jump on it? Hopefully everyone is doing a better job at being patient than I am!
