Waiting for my license

Hello all, looking for some advice. I recently passed my NCLEX on July 20th and had a start date of August 1st. Foolishly I didn’t get a temporary license so now I’m in a pickle. I submitted my early results to Pa.gov website and it says “pending review” but heard they wait until the official results are in which could take 6 weeks and then another 30 days to validate those results. Has anyone else been in this situation and have any tricks to speed up the process? If not how long did it take to officially get your license # to begin work? Thanks so much.

My license number took what felt like FOREVER (exactly 6 weeks from the day I passed the NCLEX) to pop up here in Maryland on the MBON website but that was because somehow the board never got my background check results from the fingerprint place!  I had to make a bunch of calls/emails to find out the holdup and get my results resent then the problem was finally resolved.  Fortunately my job held my position until everything was done. My advice is to call/email the board to see if something is holding your license processing up and if so fix the problem.  Good luck, hopefully your number pops up fast!

I don’t think I have anything else to do (to my knowledge). I’ve even been in contact with the state senator to expedite the process which she has written an email (supposedly) to help. I hope it doesn’t take 6 weeks, but only time will tell.

I was in a rush to get my Florida license. It took about 4 weeks. I called every other day from week 3. If I'm a pain to them, the more likely they would look at my paperwork. I believe it worked since it normally takes 6-8 weeks to get approved.

Let this be a cautionary tale to others who think they’ll be able to start work so soon after NCLEX. Be ready for delays. Be sure to communicate c your prospective employers about your efforts and responses. They may be able to help.

I hope it all works out for you.

Well ,call your employer and change the start date, funny how many moons ago one had to wait 3 months and you were employed as student nurse  with lower pay until the paper came in.If you called all they could say was pass or fail, after three months some sent telegrams inquiring. The wait was on you, thats it.

If you genuinely don't see how brazen it was to contact a state senator over a less than 15-day wait for your nursing license, that's problematic. But okay.

Was not even near a 15 day wait? It was up to 6 weeks. I like to get ahead and try to get problems figured out start my career.

You ended up waiting for less than 15-days. The wait could have been up to 6-weeks, but that didn't end up happening. Was that because you contacted a state senator? Who knows.

I'm all for preparedness and reaching out for help when needed, yet, I'm doing you a professional favor in pointing out how ludicrous it is to admit to reaching out to a state senator to help you rectify your own mistake over something like a nursing license.

Hey, if you want to do that, as privileged as it is, go for it. But you may want to refrain from ever admitting it. I can pretty much guarantee you anybody who hears that will roll their eyes. Someone liked my comment, after all.

Nope I’ll tell anyone that asks. I made a mistake and did what I needed to do to fix it. They are there to do what they can to help others and they helped me! Worked out great!
