I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!
How about introductions and a little info about each person?
I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!
Regarding immunizations, I called the Marion Count HD today and the lady said they do not require titers or any other documentation for varicella or MMR. You just come in and get the shots and they are $10. www.mchd.com
Wow! Thanks for that info! That policy has certainly changed from the summer of '07! They made my dd get a titer because she was >18! ($75 titer & $20 copay for the dr's order, only to prove what MOMMA already knew! Argh!) Anyway, that saved me some $ Melissa, as I ASSumed I would need a titer!
I scored on getting my proof of Rubella immunity from my OB-Gyn (1988!), but am going to have to repeat my Hep B series for the 3rd time! Hope there aren't any side effects! Geesh! Oh, wait! I think I might have read that side effects include gray hair... yeah, think I read that somewhere!

Addendum: JUST called MCHD for pricing (I paid > $10 for dd's shots!) and was told $35 per injection for HepB. I told him I "heard" it was $10 and he said it's $10 for children under 18, & the adult price is $35 per shot. (I spoke with a thick accented male @Indy/Southside.) I'm calling my insurance co - if it's covered, my office copay is
Interesting inconsistent info....reminds me of a few other places! LOL!
Suggestion for immunization records: Depending upon your school district, your grade school or high school may have a copy of your immunizations.
Another great suggestion! Thank you!
I have a copy of my immunization records from my pediatrician's office, but it's all hand written and I wasn't sure if it would be acceptable. It's about the size of an index card and I didn't know what the nursing school would required as far as documentation. It seemed it would be easier just to get stuck again and have brand new documents for them but if there's a better way I'm interested!

Melissa, When having your physical, you might also ask your family doctor if they will accept them as proof, and sign off on them on a script. Can't hurt to ask! Heck, mine were probably written on stone tablets at some point! LOL! :chuckle
