I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!
How about introductions and a little info about each person?
I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!
I'm afraid they'll label me OCD for attending 2 different Indy info sessions, and NOT let me in! LOL!
Well then I'm OCD too, I have already attended two Indy info sessions and I might attend a third next week since I hear they are having summer nursing classes now so I want to hear more about that. I just won't sign in for the third session LOL.

They are? Summer classes for ASN? I had not heard that and would love those details. Maybe I'll dress in disguise and crash the info session next week too!
Well, since posting that, I've changed my schedule! I'm taking Micro on Mon/Wed eve (at Lawrence) and Chem online. Maybe some (OK, alot!) of truth to the OCD?!
Ah, you'll love micro, it is very interesting! I did hear that my instructor is the best, and that makes a difference. I know we're not suppose to give out names - are we allowed to give initials? Even if you don't have her this summer, maybe you could attend some of her lectures & labs as additional study.
I'm also toying with the idea of dropping ANP201 and taking Intro Chemistry online. I heard the South Bend on-line course is great, so I signed up for that (last slot!!). I was wondering if it was smart to drop a 4 credit class for a 3 credit class since I want to eventually go for my BSN. Does anyone know if these class choices will make a difference?
Just teasing about OCD - we just have to be very organized, so we appear complusive!
I went to an open advising at Lawrence recently and the nursing chair said that this summer they are offering a summer class to the students that just started in Jan. (totally optional). She said that they will have two classes available and half would take one and the other half would take the other (students would only take one of the two). Then next summer ('10) they would switch. She said that it would allow people to graduate a semester earlier if they did a course both summers. She said that like 90% or some large number of the students said they were interested in doing the summer classes.
I don't really see how it could stay organized with some of the students doing summer classes, some not. . . it would seem like they would have open spots in the fall term in the classes that the students just took over the summer (but not everyone, so they would still have to offer them). I just don't see how they can do it as optional and still keep track of their program as well. It seems like nursing school runs the best if everyone stays together.

It's OK, you can tease me all you want about OCD- it's true! Just ask Melissa2012! LOL!
I think I know who you are referring to with Micro, but I believe she only teaches during the day (?). I'm working FT days, so will be going in the evening. Thanks for the info, if needed, I'll flex some work hours and attend hers. Also, let me know if you want to sell your Micro book!
Like others on this board, I've heard horror stories about ANP201, so I chickened out! I'm registered for the summer SB Chem class, too, and already have a tutor lined up, just in case! A month ago, I might have told you the period table was a method for tracking the menstrual cycle! j/k!
I would check with your BSN program before dropping the 4 credit hour class for a 3, though, to be sure the 3 will transfer the same. I'm old, so I'm perfectly happy with an ASN.
Only 45 more days.... (sigh)

Thanks for that info! Wow, I would TOTALLY do that! Good to know that it is optional, though.
I"m a little old also - I'll be 49 when I graduate (when - not if!) - I get in this Fall!
My micro instructor teaches at night, I'm in the Mon/Wed evening class this semester (KBK). I didn't get a micro texbook, before class I was told that if we take good notes, all we needed was the lab manual and atlas. You bet you can have mine (no buy, just have. I have some passing-forward to do!). I can't get my PM to work here, as soon as I figure it out I'll send you my contact info & get the books to you.

cthomas, you are a wealth of information! Thank you! That is GREAT to know since I'm in the summer M/W class (fingers crossed I'll get her!) So glad to hear you like her.
Your PM won't work until you have 15 posts, so keep chatting, Sista', we're both about to reach 15!
I'd be happy to pay for any materials you feel would be beneficial, books, notes, whatever! I know what you mean about paying it forward. I've met many wonderful and giving people along this journey.
I'm usually at school on Mon, Tues, and Thur eve, at Lawrence. Maybe we could try to meet on a Monday eve?
I love your attitude of WHEN you graduate, not if! I'll be 47 WHEN I graduate! We can be the "Mommas" to the Class of 2011! LOL!
Wait, there's pre-nursing students who aren't OCD? ;P
Everyone at work knows I'm pretty well bonkers with the OCD so I just embrace it now!
I was just sitting at my desk today thinking about how wonderful it's going to be buying everything this summer (IF I get in, I don't want to jinx myself by saying WHEN) and then getting to organise everything. Oh man, it's going to be so great! I might even spring for a filing cabinet of my very own! I've already been making lists of what I will need to do to get ready like call my mom about my OLD vaccine records and stuff like that.
I found another seriously awesome nursing podcast that I thought you guys might be interested in. It's called the Nursing Show and I'm really loving it so far.

I've also been searching places like wordpress.com and blogger.com for nursing student blogs and getting addicted to them right now too. All of this is an excellent way to procrastinate studying for my APHY 201 test this Saturday LOL!
And why are we worried about something the faculty should be worried about? There is enough to worry about already, so stop worrying about the little things. You'll have more sanity! All you should worry about is 1) getting in and 2) passing classes so you don't have to retake them.
I wish I could stop worrying! I don't know what I'd do with all of my "free time" in my brain though! LOL!
