Hello all, I am new to this forum, but have been reading from it for some time. I am curious. Who is still waiting for the fully qualified selection status from Jan boards? It seems that AFPC is busy with other matters for the immediate future. I am waiting patiently....well not so patiently!
I got the call too Carebear!!!!!!!!!!! 10 Jan for me and I am going to Andrews afterwards. Thrilled as its near my son ( and grandson), he's at Dover AFB. Me with my OCD already looked at airfares to go back and forth to visit family. My husband and daughters will stay at our house for school and work. The market is too crazy now to sell. Besides I stayed at home while my husband was underway on the ships...........so its my turn now!! The stress is off for this chapter but a new one will start I am sure....lol!
Any advice anyone on prepping for COT? Readings, mindset, etc? I already workout and run.
The excrutiating wait never ends.I have commissioned. I go to COT in 17 days. I have no orders. I can not make travel arrangements. I can not move my household.
Yes. I'm frustrated. I am actually horribly concerned about getting my household packed before I leave. Yes, I know someone else can be here when they move my house with power of attn papers. I'm single and wholely responsible for everything. I have no adult family here. I have a hard time allowing having a friend take responsiblity for moving my household and cleaning up my house after I'm gone and in COT where they can't reach me.
Some things are just out of my control and I guess that is the life I need to get used to. I keep telling myself that, but it isn't helping. Trying to keep smiling.... :)
Mid--I have been reading this blog for a couple of weeks....I will be with you at COT in May, I still have no orders myself and have not been contacted by my sponser. I can feel your pain!! It is frustrating becuase I gave notice to my apartment to leave at the end of May and now I don't even know if I will have all of my stuff out at that point.....I would have thought that after being commissioned in March that orders would have come before this point.
acherri,
well I'm sorry for your dilemma, but I'm kinda glad I'm not alone. I am so hoping for a call on Monday that the orders are here and I can call TMO. I hope the same for you. But otherwise we sit here helpless to do more than prep the best we can. I am sure they will get our stuff moved in time. do you have everything else you need for COT?
Where are you now and where do you get to go?
I will be stationed at Lackland in San Antonio, coming from Raleigh, NC. I think I have most things for COT except the Mess Dress which both my recruiter and his boss told me I wouldn't be needing (??) I guess I'll find out about that one. Where are you going to be stationed? I'm assuming you don't have to go to NTP?
Acherri,
I'm going to Lackland as well. :)
Most people don't seem to get their mess dress until they are there. I wouldn't worry about it. Just get everything else straight.
I am going in as a qualified nurse. I've been a nurse for 14 years. No NTP for me. I think it is a great program though! new grads in civilian world don't get that kind of support.
Are you driving or flying to COT? I'm still deciding. Driving may be better, but really long.
Wac44, there is no relaxing here! lol. I leave in 2 weeks, have no orders. My household can't move. I work until next Wednesday and then I leave on Saturday. I still need to get my oil changed and get my house packed. I'm totally stressed out!!! lol. I'm looking forward to COT so I can't worry about all this stuff, just concentrate on Being there and doing what I need to. So trading one kind of stress for another. :)
FYI about the Mess Dress... I found out AFTER I purchased mine that I could've rented it!!!! All the chaplains knew about renting it, but I was told nothing. And when you get to purchase uniforms, it was utter chaos, so I just followed the crowd and bought one. I didn't have a chaplain in my flight.
I believe the place they rent it from is:
Shinbaum's Uniform
334-265-0552
1997 Bell St
Montgomery, AL 36104
It's right off base. And you don't need it until the last week... or second to last? I went through it in Sept 09.
Also, one awesome Flt CC to watch for is Capt Rella... he's a CCATT RN... one of the few medical COT staffers. I believe he'll be there for y'all. :)
