I'm a traditional transfer student who applied to Wagner for 2011. I saw on this board that some people had interviews. Were you guys all in the accelerated? Has anyone received an acceptance or rejection? Does anyone know when we will hear???
Hi golfinrican,
Just a few questions for you about the program at Wagner ::
1) does the school or the clinical sites require a background check?
2) are you in class strictly with the other members of the accelerated program or do you sit in classes with the traditional undergraduate students?
thanks in advance!

Wagner's application process both online and paper does have a section asking if the applicant has been convicted of a crime. Futhermore because of various federal and state laws regarding healthcare workers most clinical sites will require a criminal background check.
In addition all persons seeking licensure in NYS will have to answer the same question regarding criminal backgroud. For that reason many programs explain up front in the application process that if one has any problems in that area to contact the NYS BON early as possible (before even starting nursing school is often recommended) to see if whatever is on their record will prevent licensure. This is not a bad way to go as you have no idea how many persons graduate from a nursing program and even pass the boards only to have problems getting a license because of something on their record.
blueangel - anyupdate on the type of interview questions or if you know if they plan interview more people? I haven't heard back yet on an interview date.
I'm interviewing tomorrow - I'll let you know what they throw my way. Chances are extremely low that I'll be going to Wagner unless they throw money my way (which is insane wishful thinking, I know) but the price point would be uncomfortably high for me without some sort of scholarship money. Either way, it seems like it's very low key - you meet with a nursing school faculty member.
I got my email for my interview! Looking to start Fall 2013. Sorry I'm late on this thread but if anyone who went on the interview let me know the type of questions I would GREATLY appreciate it! Here is my email as well [email protected]
