Nursing student looking for exposure... if your hospital, clinic, rest home... etc. needs somebody, let me know. thanks, i appreciate it. :D

i live in Montebello...

Fridays/Saturdays (nights)? Am in school Monday-Thursday

]Hey, I was in your shoes a week or two ago. I'd suggest you search websites of your local hospitals for volunteer opportunities. I did so last week and have my orientation/information meeting this coming week. Pretty stoked for that. Best of all, it takes maybe 5 minutes out of your day and a few clicks to sign up for a program! :) Good luck with everything.

hey you should definitely sign up to be a CCE (clinical care extender). you need to do at least 4 hours a week, and you get to work with real nurses. i'm in the program right now, and i love it! check out the website and see if theres a hospital near you :) http://copehealthsolutions.org/hwt/cce.html

I agree with Long. Check out websites of nearby hospitals. Many of them have a volunteer program. A good place to check is the VA Hospital...they have a lot of volunteer opportunities for whatever unit you would like to work in, including pharmacy and physical therapy.

thanks...

um, what kind of questions will this "interview" entail?

it's a group interview. basic questions like what are your strengths/weaknesses? what is your schedule like? also they'll give you scenarios. ex.) what do you do if the patient is throwing up? say: put the pt. in upright position and call the nurse. they're pretty basic common knowledge questions. it probably took an hour. you should dress professional. gluck!

do they place RN volunteers in areas you want to be in?

you are first put in a nursing floor. which is medical onocology, DOU, and something else (sorry i forgot) after your first rotation, which is 3 months, you get to choose a different floor, such as pediatrics, mother&baby care unit, er, and even OR and labor&delivery! however, for those two units there are certain amount of hours you need to do.

thanks maybeezy. ill be submitting an application tomorrow at kaiser hospital. hope they will consider me. :)

i have been out the past week with strep throat...

1 more question: will they consider me if i am NOT currently enrolled in the actual/accredited program? i am in the process of taking prerequisites prior to applying for a/the nursing curriculum. you know... anatomy, mircobiology, etc...
