Volunteering at Memorial Hermann?

Hello there guys! Right now i currently have a chance to volunteer at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center or Memorial Hermann Southwest campus.

I was wondering if any of you have ever volunteered at any of these hospitals and how the experience was for you?

Texas medical is about thirty minutes from where i live while southwest is only about ten. Im debating which once i should go too because i dont know if they offer the volunteers the same things? On the webpage texas medical seems to offer more options to volunteers while southwest does not but i dont know if this is true. Does any one know more about this?

I want to volunteer for the experience and to get myself out there. Any information would be appreciated :)

I've applied for and have an interview this week to volunteer at Memorial Hermann TMC, I'm close to the SW side of town too, but given the amount of opportunity to volunteer in various areas, I decided to go with TMC. I think that the medical center will offer an abundance of personnel and opportunities for networking...

HouTx, BSN, MSN, EdD

Specializes in Critical Care, Education. Has 35 years experience.

Please be aware that volunteer activities are strictly limited to non-clinical areas. With the exception of helping transport admissions & discharges, you may have very little contact with clinical staff.

I have an interview as well. Hope you get it

Yup, I only know 1 volunteer by name (but I am horrible at names anyway) since I rarely have any interaction with them aside from helping get the patient loaded up on a wheel chair for discharge or when they are helping when the tube system is down.

I do appreciate all the volunteers do for us though.

Thank you so much for replying. May i ask how it is going for you?

I decided to go with TMC for the same reason but i had to get a TB test done and that didnt turn out to well so they wanted me to go to the doctor to get it checked out but in between that i got so busy so im planning to go through the whole process again soon :(

Any updates?
