Virtual ATI

Hi,

Anyone tried the Virtual ATI with your own individual instructor to help you pass boards? I will be starting on Monday, just wondering if anyone else had tried it.

I am starting Virtual-ATI Monday as well. I have not heard many good things about it, but we had to pay for it in our tuition so I am going to give it a try. Let me know what you think of it when you start.

I am on day 6 of the two week program that my school paid for. I'm sorry but I want to be very honest so I have to admit that I really hate it. The way it works is that you start off by taking an assessment in a specific content area. You still get a break down of your weak areas on the print out like you did when you were in school but now based on your score you are advised to review or move on the next assessment. The target score is 65% overall but if you have areas that are weaker than it's recommended that you review those areas. You review by doing the learning activities. These activities consist of pdf files...stuff to read...Q&A sheets etc. The ATI book for that specific topic can also be downloaded from a pdf. Once you complete your activities you are supposed to take another assessment in that same content area it will be form A or form B depending on how you performed. If you still don't meet the 65% overall or have weak areas where you don't meet the target score than you need to create what is called a focused review. Basically this review will hone in on your weaker areas by showing you clips and making you read more content from those same ATI books you probably have holding up your coffee table.

Hmmm what else? You also have an NCLEX Question of the day which is answered via a thread. You are supposed to select the answer and give a rationale and the answer is given on the next day by the instructor. Your class will likely have almost 100 people in it so I don't feel like I am getting all of the personal attention that ATI hypes up when they want to sell you the program. Once you complete an assessment you email your tutor but don't expect a response or too much feedback unless you ask for it.

That's virtural ATI in a nutshell. I don't really like it and I'm going to stick with Saunders 4th edition, Kaplan NCLEX-RN review, and Priority, Delegation, and Assignment by Linda Lacharity. That seems to be a winning combination recommended by a lot of students on this forum and I don't want to be anyone's guinea pig.

Thanks for your time in writing such a long response. I guess I will continue to study the books I have been, I have the Lacharity book, and havent studied it at all but maybe I will pick that one up as well to study.

Thanks for the response.

My daughter got the ATI package going on a year ago and hasn't picked it up yet, so it certainly doesn't count for much in the motivation department as far as she is concerned! Good luck with your preparation.
