Hi Everyone. I wanted to create a thread for the vcu CRNA 2023. Has anyone submitted their application yet ?

As far as abundance of applicants, it’s nothing new. Every year they send out the same email. I have two friends who got accepted in 2020 and 2021. No waitlist, they just got in. Their stats were:
GPA ~ 3.7
CCRN
Regular MICU (10 years) and Neuro ICU (5 years) experience.
Involved in serving communities and unit practice councils.
Ha! Well, the waiting game terrible regardless.
And congrats to your friends! Still seems awkward to have a "pre-recorded" interview, but I guess it could be worse.
Were your friends also heavily involved in research? That's something I'm lacking in my resume...

No, not really much research experience. However, they were super stars on the unit with councils and implementing and changing protocols, using evidence-based practice. Just really good nurses who were trying to make their units safe. I am sure they received stellar recommendations for that. They also networked within AACN and its local chapters. Volunteered a lot in their communities. Impressive but nothing super crazy. Anybody can do it. They told me that VCU is looking for “well-rounded” nurses.

I don’t have half of what they had LOL. The CRNA I shadowed encouraged me to apply anyway because he didn’t have anything special like that when he got in in VCU. He said he took time writing his personal statement. But it’s crazy that VCU has around 400 applicants for ~ 20-40 spots in Richmond. Everybody has high GPA, CCRN, etc. I am hoping that my personal statement will make me stand out. We will see.
Yeah that seems very dense. I have a friend who works at Georgetown with me that applied last year. She had her ccrn & gre. She applied to the northern Virginia campus, which has even fewer spots and was waitlisted. She didn't have anything super special like research or CRNA shadow experience. She's applying again this year and they told her she just needed to have a little more volunteer experience.

LOL same here. Honestly, I stopped living at this point. I just want to know hahaha. If anybody wants some “coping” mechanisms with waiting, I highly recommend a podcast “CRNA school prep academy” on Apple podcast app. Soooo much good information too. It’s free
