Violent Riots are helping Trump

Published

I've never seen FOX news quote a CNN commentator but what they said make sense.  These violent riots which started out as protests have swayed Democrats into voting Republican in Wisconsin.  Nobody wants to live with the fear that their business or home may be burnt to the ground by rioters.  If Democrats want to win the election the riots have to stop everywhere.  Trump has sent in the National Guard to Wisconsin to help end the lawlessness in Kenosha.

IF the Dem governors and mayors can't restore law and order the Feds will.  You can't have a country full of lawlessness.  Sorry, not sorry.

I don’t think anyone can say with any certainty how Wisconsin voters will end up voting.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/wisconsin/

I must admit I’d be a bit surprised if a significant number of voters who voted for Obama in 08 and 12 but went for Trump in 2016, haven’t been thoroughly disgusted by what they’ve witnessed in the past three and a half years, and don’t want another four years of this Trump era American carnage.

OP, you’re seem to be thinking that more voters can be scared into believing  that a Biden presidency will result in riots and lawlessness. I wonder if not more people will reflect on the fact that the protests and riots you’re experiencing in many parts of your country are happening under the current President.

Only time will tell. Recent history shows that Presidential candidates often, but not always, win Wisconsin with a relatively small margin.

There were riots under Obama too, Michael Brown, Freddy Gray etc.

(partial quote)

This is entirely in line with my personal experiences. Having worked protests, including some that escalated to rioting, this is usually the case. The majority are there to peacefully protest and a smaller group use the masses as cover to commit crimes. And once it escalates it can be hard to determine who’s who.

It’s the same with the soccer games I used to work. If you guys know anything about European soccer games, you know they can turn into violent affairs. Your’re in an arena with 50.000 peeps or so, and a couple of hundred hooligans can wreak major havoc despite the fact that the vast majority of the spectators are only there to watch their favorite sport and team. I remember one day after a game, I was taking a shower and started counting the bruises starting to bloom ? on my body. I gave up when I reached 52. I remember the number well despite it being close to twenty years ago, because I thought ”oh well, one for every week of the year”. And this happened despite wearing full riot gear.

So yes, riots suck bigly ? but I think there are those who are deliberately attempting to distort the picture instead of taking a more nuanced approach, because they think it’s a good political strategy to try to discredit legitimate protests and have an excuse to deploy federal troops and act excessively heavy-handedly. It will in all likelihood only lead to more unrest. By design?

Aug 27, 2020  Kenosha shooting: Protests peaceful on fourth night; Pence decries violence; NBA, other pro sports sit out

After three nights of looting, firebombing and violence, protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake remained peaceful on Wednesday, four hours past curfew.

The scene in Kenosha on Wednesday was a contrast to the night before, when protesters clashed with law enforcement for hours and a gunman shot three people, two of whom died, shortly before midnight...

Trump said at that time riots were a reflection of weak leadership in the white house. We'll just apply that thinking to this weak president.

Wisc. Rep. David Bowen Says Cops Turned Blind Eye to White Militias in Kenosha

Wisconsin state Representative David Bowen, who has attended racial justice protests in Kenosha, says he “witnessed firsthand” how freely organized white supremacists targeted protesters without interference from law enforcement, and accuses police of giving Rittenhouse the “Dylann Roof treatment,” managing to arrest him without incident, while unarmed Black people are frequently met with deadly force. “This is Exhibit A and Exhibit B of why we need to transform law enforcement and public safety in Wisconsin and in this country,” Bowen says...

My mother, grandmother and grandfather, sister and brother were "Dust Bowl Refugees" in the 1930s. They had to travel for my grandfather's tree surgeon and pest control work so live out of a Ford Touring car. They tried to stay away from the farm labor camps due to violent vigilantes.

August 28, 2020: 'People's worst fears' came alive in Kenosha: Guns, militia inject chilling dimension into protests

During a chaotic night of demonstration sparked by the police shooting of Jacob Blake, Rittenhouse told reporters prior to the deadly confrontation that he was armed with a rifle to protect a local parking lot....

...   The dreaded mix of guns and large crowds has been a persistent and growing concern for law enforcement for years. ED Davis, a former Boston police commissioner, said the the violence in Kenosha is the “inevitable outcome” when private citizens – armed with military-grade weapons and driven by visceral reactions – take to the streets to assume the role of law enforcement.

“The utilization of these weapons and the type of response that we’ve seen in communities like Kenosha, it’s just unacceptable," Davis said, adding that the risk to life is "very high when you have untrained individuals utilizing weapons like this." Davis said the unrest on display in Kenosha is a symptom of the most profound racial and political division he has seen in the country in more than three decades in law enforcement. ...   Asked why he felt the need for a gun in the midst of social justice protest, Rittenhouse was ready with an answer: "People are getting injured and our job is to protect this business," Rittenhouse told a Daily Caller reporter in video interview. "And my job also is to protect people. If someone is hurt, I’m running into harm’s way. That’s why I have my rifle; I’ve gotta protect myself, obviously. But I also have my med kit."...

Quote

...   Rittenhouse was far from the only person carrying a gun during Tuesday's protests. Earlier Tuesday, a local militia, known as the Kenosha Guard, posted their intent to join the protests in a facebook message that appeared to be directed at local police:

Quote

"We are mobilizing tonight and have about 3,000 RSVP’s. Our effort has made the national media. I ask that you do NOT have your officers tell us to go home under threat of arrest as you have in the past. We are willing to talk to KPD and open a dis cussion. It is evident, that no matter how many Officers, deputies and other law enforcement officers that are here, you will still be outnumbered."

Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth acknowledged the intent for an armed intervention, saying that he fielded an inquiry earlier this week. "I had a person call me and say, 'Why don’t you deputize citizens who have guns to come out and patrol the city of Kenosha?'" Beth said Wednesday. "And I’m like, ‘Oh Hell, no.’ What happened last night is the perfect reason why I wouldn’t."...    https://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2020/08/28/after-kenosha-guns-militia-inject-chilling-dimension-into-protests/5642626002/

Have you seen that vigilante man?
Have you seen that vigilante man?
Have you seen that vigilante man?
I been hearin' his name all over the land

Well, what is a vigilante man?
Tell me, what is a vigilante man?
Has he got a gun and a club in his hand?
Is that is a vigilante man?

Rainy night down in the engine house
Sleepin' just as still as a mouse
Man come along an' he chased us out in the rain
Was that a vigilante man?

Stormy days we passed the time away
Sleepin' in some good warm place
Man come along an' we give him a little race
Was that a vigilante man?

Preacher Casy was just a workin' man
And he said, "Unite all you working men"
Killed him in the river some strange man
Was that a vigilante man?
