Villanova BSN Express Spring 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi, my name is Mike. I'm opening this thread to connect with other people who are applying or have been accepted to the BSNExpress program at Villanova for Spring 2015. Feel free to share any thoughts and suggestions you might have and to ask questions. Hopefully this forum can serve as a way for us to get to know each other a bit prior to the start of the program.

DCCC DOES have pathophysiology. It's called pathophysiology & pharmacology, 4 credits. Offered online and I did approve it with admissions at nova.

Course number is AHM 208

It looks like it is split up half online and half in-class. I found a 100% online pathophysiology class offered through a college in Florida. Technically I am still a resident there so can apply for in-state tuition which is like $91 a credit. I just need to reach out and make sure Villanova will accept the credits.

Also, did your acceptance letters come in a packet or just a regular envelope?

Came in a regular envelope. What school in Florida? May consider it if out of state isn't too high.

Oh darn, you're right. I had looked it up before the Spring 2015 class schedules were up and just saw that it was offered online. Thanks for the heads up.

Gerrly my master's is in biomedical sciences, with a forensics concentration from PCOM. I went to University of Rochester for undergrad.

Definitely send a course description for the pathology requirement. I initially thought I would have to take it but my pathology for forensic medicine course was accepted.

Wow, why are you switching careers? I guess that could be asked of us all, but forensics just seems so cool.

Honestly I wasn't interested in it to begin with so it definitely wasn't a career for me... it was a I just lost my job- can't find a new one- have no idea what to do with my life thing LOL. I've always been interested in patient care but wasn't sure whether medicine or something else. I initially planned on just doing one year but ended up doing the second to have something to do, so I wasn't going because I was interested in working in the field. Now that I've done it, it will definitely be super helpful in nursing!

Hi RNLOVE, I live in Rhode Island, so I'm taking it in person at Community College Rhode Island at the Lincoln Campus for about $700. M.A. at Villanova approved the course description already too! I just found a Bucks online nutrition course that is a 3 week winter intersession, so I'm registering for it right now. Thank you SO MUCH!

@ Sweetem, honestly I've been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of my community college courses at CCRI. I went to a private college honors program and a big name grad school, and the teaching quality of 2/3 of my classes at CCRI has ranked up there. That said, all the pluses of a bigger price tag like office hours, decent facilities, working IT systems have been lacking at community college. Villanova seems like the best of both words- great teaching, good outcomes, new facilities, and tons of clinical opportunities, but at more reasonable price tag than some of the other programs out there.

Villanova is a good program, I was in the 2014 cohort but was dropped because I got below a 70% on my medsurge exam, if you fall below a 70% on any test "your gone". The nice thing about the university is if you fail, they will offer you to come back the following year. I got accepted to Thomas Jefferson's F.A.C.T. Program for the May 2015 cohort, I did this because they give you a chance to re-take the exam if your under 70%, not taking anything from Villanova, they have an awesome program, but I need a little extra help with courses like metrology and medsurge because I have been out of school for a few years.
