Did you hear about the new study claiming that VIAGRA may improve women sexual function? As you know Viagra is Pfizer best selling drug used for erectile dysfunction in men. The same study suggests that CIALIS and LEVITRA may do the same function...
Did anyone heard sth about it?
I read in one of my pharmacology texts that if a woman is having sexual problems due to SSRI's (anorgasmic, I think the term was? And/or lack of desire) the patient can be switched to Wellbutrin which will actually increase desire and the ability to have an orgasm.I need to find that book....
I was put on Wellbutrin! I DID NOTHING AT ALL! My doctor thought it would help with the depression and sexual dysfunction both. Did nothing for either of them!
It makes me so angry :angryfire because I feel like NOTHING can be done to help me! AGAIN, NOT ASKING FOR ADVICE. JUST SHARING MY SIDE OF THE ISSUE.
Sexual dysfunction can happen at any age. I take antidepressants, and I have absolutely NO libido - I am desperate to feel "womanly" again. My hubby and I have not been intimate since January, and that was a fiasco!
Woman going through menopause can go either way with sexual dysfunction. For some, the hormonal changes, hot flashes, lady partsl dryness etc... get in the way of sexual enjoyment. For others, the ability to NOT get pregnant is a hugh relief, and their interest in sex soars. It's an individual thing.
I would love to see a pill that does indeed help women. My hubby and I have always had a very healthy and happy intimate relationship, until my depression set in, and the meds took hold. Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.
It's embarrassing to admit, but I figured - no pain, no gain.
From Medscape (may have to register - free site):
Sildenafil May Improve Women's Antidepressant-Related Sexual Dysfunction
July 23, 2008-Premenopausal women with antidepressant-associated adverse sexual effects who receive sildenafil (Viagra, Pfizer Inc) and continued stable-dose antidepressant treatment have improved sexual function, according to a small, 8-week, prospective, randomized controlled trial. The trial was designed to evaluate the efficacy of sildenafil for sexual dysfunction associated with selective and nonselective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SRIs) in women.

I have talked to my doctor. This is the 3rd doctor I have been to and no one seems to care.
They keep telling me it's just depression or stress.:argue: I have taken both Welbutrin and Xanax and NOTHING helps. I feel so horrible for my husband but he says he completely understands that it is not my fault and that it's just something we have to deal with. Any doctor that I have been through just trys to give me depression meds for it and I feel it makes it worse. I feel hopeless and that I will NEVER be normal again. My husband and I have only been married for 2 years! I have a lifetime left to go through this. It's aweful.
