Did you hear about the new study claiming that VIAGRA may improve women sexual function? As you know Viagra is Pfizer best selling drug used for erectile dysfunction in men. The same study suggests that CIALIS and LEVITRA may do the same function...
Did anyone heard sth about it?

What a strange thread?!!
The OP should be in General Nursing forums and the second post should be in international forum.
I guess neither should be in the NCLEX forum.
Interesting about Viagra though...

You are in MSICU right? And you are questioning the validity of my post???? Viagra is one the most drugs encountered by people taking the NCLEX. It was a way for me to make people look at different medical options of that drug! There is nothing strange about my post unless you have a hard time to understand the basic and different options of pharmacology!
No need to be a jerk. This post was meant for the general nursing forum. Any new research found will not wind up any time soon on tne NCLEX.
And in case you missed it, there was a reply to your post that was an international question. It had nothing to do with Viagra or the NCLEX.
Chill out for goodness sakes...

No need to call me a jerk! I guess you have your own ways calling people names! Anyway, there is no need to argue or sound belligerent. The point I am making is that we should respect other people opinions! You may agree or disagree with me, but you don't have any single right to question the validity of my opinion!!!
Take care!

CHICAGO - Viagra's effect in women has been disappointing, but a new small study finds those on antidepressants may benefit from taking the little blue pills. The research involving 98 premenopausal women found Viagra helped with orgasm. But the benefits did not extend to other aspects of sex such as desire, researchers report in Wednesday's Journal of the American Medical Association. "For women on antidepressants with orgasm problems, this may provide some wonderful relief," said psychologist Stanley Althof, director of the Center for Marital and Sexual Health of South Florida in West Palm Beach, who was not involved in the study. Well, this should be good news because I know so many women on Antidepressants. If Viagra can work for women, I think this is terrific.
Several months ago I posted an article on Libigel (a gel for women and sexual dysfunction...believe the trial for this medication is in Phase 2). I only got about 2-3 responses though, which I suppose is GREAT news....must mean that there are few women on all nurses who have sexual problems....thank goodness
I think the article was moved to the Break Room, so I couldn't comment on it any further.
Interesting read though.

Isn't strange that Viagra would increase women sexual fct? Of course the findings are based on a recent study, but still it is "weird" that the "blue pill" would also work in women. I guess Pfizer will get richer and richer if women on antidepressants start using Viagra to increase their sexual fct!
I just checked and it seems that Libigel (a gel for women and sexual dysfunction) is now in phase III. Maybe FDA may approve it soon.
Just for curiosity! How big is the problem of sexual dysfunction in women? Is it specifically a post-menopause problem or it can happen in different ages group?
I guess it would work because during female sexual arousal and during orgasm, the privy parts and the whole of the genitalia engorge and change color as the erectile tissues fill with blood. Pfizer will get richer, but who cares, men sure don't seem too
I wonder if insurance will cover Viagra prescribed to women?
Boy, I don't know! I read so much about women's sexuality (meaning ability to have an orgasm) being more complicated than men's, but who knows? I think any age can be affected.
For example, I know many women that are just are not interested in sex with their current partner. They love their partner, but they say they are not really sexually interested in them and would be totally content without sex.
BUT, some of the same women have met people that have made them feel really special and pay attention to them or have done a special favor for them and all of a sudden their sexual feeling have rushed back and are stronger than ever. Not that they would cheat on their partner, but they have found that very strong sexual feelings are still alive! :redbeathe
