VetPro credentialing question

Published

I have applied/interviewd and completed everything for a VA position. The last thing was VetPro...which was basically the exact same thing/items as I had already provided. My concern is the references which were called and now being mailed reference requests and I have no idea if the people are still in the same dept. they were before. I also know one of the places will not deliver mail to employees unless they are management. I did tell this to the HR person but she didn't really respond. My concern is this part will hold up a job offer. I don't understand if my references were called why there needs to be a written letter sent as well and this could end up taking a long time. I thought about waiting until the first of Feb. if I've not heard anything contacting HR - for those of you who work VA, would this be acceptable or should I just not make any contact and assume they will eventually let me know one way or the other?

Thanks.......

Let's hope so because, like you, my current employer was notified and I had not informed them I was looking elsewhere..I work PRN and was scheduled 10 days between now and the end of Feb. I was informed, via email, this a.m. that the shifts I was placed down for were "in error" and if I was needed I would be called!!! So, while I have not been officially terminated, it's obvious my employer is NOT happy w/me and there is nothing else that woud've prompted this. So, while I wait for the VA to decide about me, I am now, today, going to be looking for something - maybe agency as I had planned - it would be faster than applying for a traditional job. I know the VA wants to make sure all is "good" with an applicant but like other jobs, it would be REALLY nice if they waited on the current job reference until they were almost 100% sure they are going to make an offer - like you - my employer knows I may be leaving so I am being "punished" already fora job I don't even know if I have :(

I feel your pain, it would be completely different if there was a firm offer, but they have u lingering not knowing what's next. I'm very blessed to have a boss that I can talk openly about this with and who does not take it personal, because there r people that would intentionally try to sabotage an employee from receiving another offer. & to tell you the truth I didn't know how she would take it, but I wanted to be the one to let her know the VA would be calling. I didn't want it to be a surprise. On top of that requesting time off to give the VA everything they want. It does sound like they aren't too happy about it. I would think they would be more understanding considering you are only PRN. Just try to hang on a little longer, after this you never have to deal with this hassle again. That's what I keep telling myself :)

So I just go done completing E-qip, what a pain that was. I'm not sure if it was done right, they gave us a cheat sheet, but it was still difficult. It took me two hours to complete it and I've only had 2 employers in the last 5 years. Has anyone else completed this?

I haven't heard of E-qip...wonder if this is like Vetpro? E-qip hasn't been mentioned to me but the position I applied for isn't at a VA hospital - it's at a VA clinic.

I start a job Monday w/an agency because I can't wait any longer to hear anything AND my PRN position where I was working has no time until possibly March. I'm not going to try to reach anyone in HR anymore either..one doesn't respond at all and the other person does but she doesn't/can't tell me anything so..I figure one day, if they are interested they will call but, like you, it's been a long, repeatative process and the long wait time is more difficult for me because I have no idea if I will actually get the job - at least in your case you have a time frame and are 99% sure.

When I went through the pre-employment process, the person that did vetpro with me gave me her name and direct number to call if I had any other questions. The lady for e-qip did the same & I called her because I was having trouble loging in & she guided me through the problem. I wanted to call her today to get more information on what exactly is e-qip's job and because e-quip won't allow any employment gap of greater than 90 days & I wasn't working during my 1 year nursing program. I just put one of my references down as a verifier other than that there is no one to verify unemployment. I'm not sure what e-qip is, but I did read another poster that wasn't allowed to complete it until after their fingerprints had cleared. My VA gave me a deadline to complete e-qip.

I sympathize Marshall1, but don't give up just yet. You have come so far, just keep your name in their ear, alot of times thats what it takes. The scripture Galatians 6:17 along with faith and prayer continue to get me through these obstacles. Have u tried contacting the hiring manager? I would try taking a trip to HR, this way they have to give you some answers. They should @ least be able to tell you what they are waiting for. The board meets on Tuesdays so I will have to wait for them to send my chart back to HR before I hear anything else. Keep us posted.

Equip is not the same as VetPro

70Tango - can you elaborate because I have not been asked to complete Equip - in fact, it has not been mentioned to me at all. All I've been told is my file is complete, back to HR for the HR person to call the service line about the job. I have no idea what that means either. I tried multiple times yesterday and today to reach the person in HR who is handling my information to try to get an update - I emailed her a few days ago & no response which is why I'm calling - every time it goes to her voice mail and then says her mailbox is full so no message can be left. I live too far to just drop in on her - I just want to know if I'm remotely still being considered because I have been offered a permanent position after my contact through my agency is up - I don't want to accept it if I'm still in the running but at the same time this place I'm contracted through needs an answer before my 4 wks is up. I hope I'm not missing something w/the Equip....

Marshall, you will drive yourself crazy trying to get an update from them. The best thing to do is take that other job and leave yourself an "out" for when the VA comes around. Its good to stay pro-active on all things VetPro however it could be any number of things holding you up: budget, staffing, training, orientations, etc. The hold-up might have nothing to do with VetPro. As far as the difference between VetPro and Equip, to me they are both the same, at least they both ask the same questions. Other Federal agencies such as IHS and DOD use Equip so maybe they are trying to merge them? I dont know enough to advise on the differences or what the purposes are, I just know that Equip and VetPro are not the same.

Think of it like this, if they called you today and said "Marshall, where you been?/ We need you ASAP" it would still take them until next month to get you sceduled for orientation.

Quick question about vet pro-

how long does it take from start to finish to get hired from Vet pro. I've sent it in at the end of December. Heard that my application has gone to the board . Never heard any more. Am I screwed? Do you ever hear what is going on? The process seems so long.

You need to call the HR person you have been working with. Vetpro and it's requirements have to be met before anything moves onto the board. Some boards meet every week, some every 2 weeks but it's been long enough for you to have heard something.

What sorts of things do they ask your current employer? I have a boss who hates me and would love to cause me trouble. I'm worried about what she may have said about me. Also does anyone know how long the credentialing process can take? It seems my paperwork is "stuck" in credentialing and I know all of my references returned it right away.

Vetpro doesn't ask your employer anything - they just verify dates of employment with the HR dept.
