Hello everyone-
I am really needing advice. I graduated with my ADN in December 2014. I moved from FL to IL that same month. After passing boards in FL February 2015, it took 2 months to get my endorsement in IL. Now, in FL I did everything I needed to do as a nursing student…networked, introduced myself to charge…bam, got the job as a PCT at a hospital I was doing clinical in. AWESOME. I worked there full time my last 8 months of school and they offered me a position as a RN grad when I graduated and passed boards. However, I had to move to IL due to some family issues.
So, here I am in IL. No network, no history, nothing. But I have a pretty good resume with experience not only as the PCT in the hospital for 8 months, but also 3 years at an urgent care as an MA. I have applied everywhere, every hospital within a 50 miles radius, nothing. I've had my resume checked by a company and two professionals. Nothing. I've applied to nursing homes, schools, camps, private offices, nothing. I guess 99% of the medical field in my area is magnet status and require BSN. I am enrolled for BSN, and it is noted on my resume. What am I doing wrong? I am going on 6 months from graduation and I left TWO jobs in FL as a nurse. I am beyond frustrated here. I am a hard worker, excellent work history, references, the whole nine. Can anyone relate or help? Thanks!

I would try to salvage one of the FL job offers and move back there if it meant living in my car for six months. Sometimes you have to bend to the opportunities as they present themselves. After a good amount of sound experience in FL, you may be able to find employment back in IL easier to obtain. Good luck.

What general area are you in? North, South, Central? There are jobs...it all depends on where you are though.

I wouldn't move anywhere until I already had a job lined up... but I think you've learned that the hard way. Is your family situation so crucial that you HAVE to be in IL right now? Can you move back to Florida for a year, and then try again in IL once you have a year of experience?
