thanks for listening !

I completely understand and "feel your pain". Whenever a parent writes a note like that you can take it to the bank that that kid will be in your office :angryfire. My question is why do we care? If we evaluate the student, find nothing to support their claim, we should let the parent dismiss them in the office. Keep the nurse out of it. It is the most frustrating aspect of this job. Well, second only to not having any working phone numbers! I had a friend once tell me to call each parent each time a child came looking to be dismissed and insist that the parent pick up the child. After all, the complaint is subjective, we can't say they aren't feeling whatever they say they are (even though we know). The theory is, if the parent got annoyed enough times, the behavior would stop. I did this in beginning of the school year and I haven't seen those kids since October! But there's always more to replace those. Sometimes I feel like a cheerleader "C'mon, hang in there, there's only _____hours left, you can do it!" Only to have them return 2,3 times with angry/frustrated notes from the teachers. Why do we care? Send them home immediately. Oh no! Now I'm venting..sorry:icon_roll.

It's OK. It's February. The kids and all of us are sick of being there. I was just c/o to a teacher today about the same type of stuff you all are talking about. He told me by the middle of March, we'd all feel better. (Hope he's right!!:lol2:) After surviving them all Monday, after the Superbowl, I think I can do anything. "Yes, I know you're tired, I'm tired too..."

My students come to school sick. The parent told them "if you feel bad, go to the nurse." So, they come in the building and come directly to me 30-45 minutes before school even starts. Usually, I have no good phone numbers. There you go......4 years of nursing school and I am basically a babysitter!!!

Hi from Frankfurt/Germany

same here. This month is pretty bad. I send home between 2-8 kids and for me that is a lot!!! They come sick to School here!! The winter is very ruff this year, so no wonder every body got sick.

In January I had to write a letter (email to the teacher and they sen to the class rep and they sent to all) to K to 5, because so many sick in school. We have to 12, but I´m still waiting a bit to go to all school.

I´m, after almost 7 years beeing a SN, very happy:up:. But thouse days..........................

On the other side .......very few head lices since September:yeah:

Please answer me 1 question. What does :VENT means?? Sorry, no idea!! Thanks

I have at least one a week that comes to school sick, and yes, usually I have trouble getting ahold of the parents.

I have started making the parents get a dismissal through the office (i.e., not excused) if I do not find anything wrong with the kid and the parent still chooses to take them home. Some of them get very angry at this, but I just smile sweetly and blame it on policy :)
