VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

The uniforms are mailed to the school and you buy your own nursing shoes from any store you want.

I also went to the orientation today. I did not expect to take other tests on basic math and basic sciences. What are the purpose of those tests ?:confused::banghead:We already have assignments for the Fall 08.VEEB here i come :chuckle:yeah:

Like I mentioned in a previous post the tests you took today are to measure your progress when you start the program. It doesn't count towards your grade. The teachers use it as their guide. Don't worry. You are set for September guys.

what is the exact amount that we must pay by Sept 3?? and if we take out a loan.. will that be available to cover our tuition thats due by Sept 3?

Roughly $2,400.You have to call the school tomorrow and talk to the financial aid counselor who is very nice. I personally don't like loans so I avoided them totally and know nothing about them. Too much interest. It's better to get financial aid and pay out of pocket. When you go to RN school, you will need the loan.

Specializes in LTC.

hello there,

akanini were you the one that mentioned that you were getting sponosred by that snya association? They gave us a flyer syaing that the assoication will help with most of our tution only if we agree to work with them for 2 years. I am going to fill out the application, but what i wanted to know is do u have any clue what is their starting rate of pay? cuase i k now if they are offering to pay for parts of your tutition, they probaly will pay you less when you begin to work for them.

Actually they won't take it out of your pay. SNYA has 65 Nursing homes and each has its own starting salary and they are in the competitive ranges. They pay all the tuition. I will be working for them full time when I finish Veeb, although you can pick part time.

Akanini,

i know it is better to avoid loan as much as possible. But, i am unable to pay the full tuition. And i think i will need the subdivised loan because i can deal with it better. Otherwise, i am trying not to get the unsubdivised loan because the interest will started kicking in January or February. I am qualified for the full Pell grant which is $4731 and the SEOG $500. And i already give the $1000 deposit. So, that is where the subdivised loan will appeared as $3500 from the Gov't. Finally, I will pay the rest which is $1514 out of my pocket. I am unfortunate for the fact that i cannot avoid loans.:banghead::o:zzzzz

I totally understand but you py every semester. You don't have to come up with all that money at once. Do what's best for you but the interest and the thought of just having a school loan before getting the RN urks me. Do what you have to do be there for Sept.

Akanini,

Do you have some informations about the subdivised loan? When i will started to pay the interests? Do you think this loan will suffocate me? And do you think i will pay the interest after i finish?:banghead:

I guess you didn't read my previous posts where I said I know nothing about loans.

if you just pay off ur loans while you're in school it's pretty much the same as coming out of pocket because interest doesn't start until 6 months after you graduate... so i think that gives you from today until 6 months after you graduate.. which will be Feb. 2010.. i may be slightly off with the dates.. but it shouldn't be hard .. lord willing
