VCU ABSN Summer 2016

Published

Hi everyone!

I wanted to start a topic for people applying to VCU's ABSN program this fall that starts Summer 2016. I've been reading the 2014 and 2015 threads and found them really helpful, especially reading other stats of students who had been accepted in the past.

I've already submitted my application, sent my SAT scores, sent my college transcript, and I'm just waiting on my references! I'm taking microbio at Emory University in Atlanta through their SON right now, and will be taking A&P 1 and 2 through their nursing school in the spring. Emory made these pre-req classes specifically for pre-health students and offers Anatomy as one class and Physiology as another to be taken together in one semester. I'm worried about taking both in the spring though and how it will look on my application though having them uncompleted currently!

I graduated from Virginia Tech in May with a degree in Business Management and currently work as a consultant. However, I've worked for a healthcare company for three years and also interned for another major children's hospital. My GPA is low... below a 3.0, which is one of my biggest fears (I hated business classes... but it was "practical"). All of the science/health classes I took are A's though. I'm also volunteering at Children's in Atlanta once a week in the ER along and their cancer center. My SAT score is 1280.

I'm also applying to Emory's program in Atlanta and thinking about applying to Bon Secour (not sure about that yet). I've also considered an associated program, but I'm worried about getting a job in Richmond with that degree!

Hoping to hear from past/current students and applicants about their stats and any advice for the application process!

When you received the "application complete and ready for review" email it was noted on the bottom. I think I got the email in December

It's also on the website!

Is anyone applying anywhere else??

Is anyone applying anywhere else??

I'm also waiting anxiously for a decision! I applied to George Washington and Drexel as well, and was accepted to both. I decided to go ahead and submit my deposit to GW to reserve my seat (the due date was 1/11), but VCU still isn't out of the running. I just hate how we find out so late!

I applied to MGH Institute of Health and got waitlisted, I also applied to University of Rochester, Quinnipiac, and University of Massachusetts Amherst

VCU is my top choice so I'm hoping I get in! I love Virginia, I'm going to be moving from Florida to wherever I get accepted!

That's a far move! Best of luck! Hoping we all get good news from VCU soon :)

Thank you!!! My GPA is a little low, so I'm expecting to maybe be waitlisted but I'm hoping maybe I'll be in the top 10 on the waitlist, but ideally I would love to just be accepted!!

Good luck to you and everyone else :) Here's hoping we hear soon!

I talked to one of my friends who is in the program now and they said they heard last year on January 24th but their email said they would hear by February 1st instead of the 15th like ours says. That may be why they had already heard at this point. Hopefully not too much longer!

Hello everyone! I wanted to introduce myself to the thread. My name is Val, I'll be graduating from James Madison University. My undergrad major is biological anthropology with a minor in biology. VCU is my top choice so I'm nervously anticipating to hear from them.

Also, I never received a confirmation email from VCU. I was wondering if I should be worried about this...when I check my application status however, it shows that they received all of the components of my application well before the deadline. Did everyone else receive an email?

Hey Val I just graduated from JMU in December! I did receive an email saying that all of my application materials were received but it was located in my junk folder so I would double check that! If it's not there I would just email them to double check.

Oh no way, congratulations! It's going to be so hard to tear myself from pretty, little Harrisonburg! I'm going to miss how beautiful the area is. :(

Hmmm, it's making me a little worried. I checked through my Junk folder and found nothing, so I went ahead and sent an email to admissions. It would be a bummer if I wasn't considered for admission for a silly reason...

Hey Val! My undergraduate degree was in Anthropology as well, I just graduated from the University of Florida this past December :)
