VCU ABSN Summer 2014 Hopefuls!

U.S.A. Virginia

Hey everyone!

I'm semi new to this site and was curious if there is anyone else out there in the application process for VCU's accelerated BSN program to start in May 2014. I've started my application, but haven't turned it in, yet. This is the only program I want to go to! I don't know if I can wait until the end of January to get a decision!!!!

I finished my degree in Biology in May 2011 and I've been working in NOVA at a fast paced medical office ever since. Also, I've taken all of my pre-reqs except for A&P I and II (starting A&P I in a few weeks), but just a bit concerned about my grades/GPA from undergrad. I meet all of the requirements thus far, but not sure if it will be enough. Anyone else having similar concerns?

Also, would love to hear from any current VCU ABSN students - what were your stats like when applying, how do you like the program, etc.

I really hope they either accept me or reject me; I don't want to be waitlisted because if I have to go to my back up school, I need to find an apartment ASAP. Like even getting a place now might be too late. Buuut really hoping for an acceptance e-mail. :3

@alligem. I sure hope your right! I'm going to be a frantic paranoid mess by February if I haven't heard lol.

Fingers crossed for everyone!!! I really hope we don't have to wait until February, I'll likely be a wreck by that point, as well.

As it is, my family, friends and even my patients are driving me nuts with the "Have you heard yet?" "Did you get in?" "When do you start?"

Goodness! C'mon decision e-mailsssssss!!!!!!

Yeah.. I feel like everytime I have to tell someone that I'm waiting and when I will start IF I get in, I'm jinxing my chances. D:

Another week has gone by and no decision e-mail yet! It might be a bad thing if I'm starting to have dreams about an acceptance letter, right? :/

I'm still hoping they release decisions early. The 22nd is only a week away and if that's when people in the past have gotten decisions then ideally that's when we will get ours!

@Allie- Nah, that probably means you'll get it. I mean, how specific is the dream and is it recurring?

@Wilson- I don't! That makes me weary that they could send out rejections early and acceptances in the first week of February. Ha. I'm just superstitious.

Hi everyone! I want to wish everyone luck as you get your acceptance letters!! I wish I could say I am confident that I would be joining you guys in May, but I learned that one of my recommendations never went through... I was a little more than disappointed, but it's been nice following this thread to see everyone's comments.

Keep posting and hopefully I'll also be a nursing student before 2014 is up! I'm applying to Bon Secours and JTCC now, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for those. But good luck everyone, I know you're all going to do amazing things as nurses!

@Grace- I'm sorry that happened to you! :( Good luck with Bon Secours! I'm sure you'll get in!

@Grace, that's horrible! I know that the beginning of 2015 may not be ideal, but UNC Chapel Hill opens their ABSN application period around October for school starting in January of 2015.

Grace, I'm so sorry that happened to you! After putting so much work into the application, I can only imagine how disappointed you are to find out that a reference never went through. Just like Lexi said, I'm sure you will get in to one of the other schools you applied for! You are an ideal candidate! Please keep us posted on any acceptance letters you receive!!!
