@Allie- When did you get a confirmation e-mail? :S I haven't gotten one but all of my supplementary materials were turned in.

I got it on October 28th... I had called a few days prior just to make sure they had all of the parts required for my application... Here's what the e-mail said...

Thank you for your application and interest in the Accelerated Bachelor’s Degree program in Nursing at VCU that begins summer 2014. We are pleased you are interested in beginning your nursing education with us.

If you are enrolled in college courses during the fall 2013 semester, you must email a copy of your grade report or unofficial transcript to[email protected] no later than December 31, 2013. Because the university is closed beginning December 21st and personnel are not in the office during this time to receive your records, do not send official transcripts. We will be working remotely over the break to update your application with the electronic grade report/unofficial transcript you submit. You will be instructed when to provide updated official transcripts with your admission decision. Failure to comply with this deadline may negatively impact your application. If you have changed your mind and no longer wish to be considered for admission, kindly reply to this message so we can withdraw your application.

You will receive official notification of the undergraduate admissions committee's decision via email in early February 2014.

:s Yeah... I checked the status of my application and they haven't entered that they have my last reference which was submitted yesterday. So Idk, I'll just wait until Monday to worry ha. I'm guessing that even though she submitted it yesterday, they haven't updated it yet, thus why I haven't received a confirmation e-mail.

@Lexi - Tid bit stressed from work + school + life combo! Haha. How bout you? I just registered for the Spring semester of A&P II. Where's my fast forward button?! I want to know, already!

I'm so excited!!!! I finished my last micro test with a bang so now I have the satisfaction of knowing that unless I mess up terribly on my psych exam, I will have all As and one B (in micro) for my nursing pre-reqs! :D

That's great, Lexicon! My last A&P I test will be this coming Tuesday and I should be able to keep my A in the class.

I'm bummed about another issue though...I received an e-mail from VCU Nursing Admissions regarding a prerequisite problem... I had e-mailed OESS over the summer to see which of my undergraduate courses would transfer in. After it was all said and done, it was determined I just needed the 2 semesters of A&P. Well, they realized they made a mistake in telling me that my undergraduate psychology course would satisfy their developmental psych prereq. I saved the e-mails from the summer and forwarded them back, but looks like it's not going to make a difference. So I'll be taking A&P II AND developmental psych next semester. Bah humbug. I really hope that having 2 prereqs pending will not harm my chances of being accepted :/

@Allie- I don't think so! The psych isn't all that important to them-- it's the anatomy, micro, and physiology that they really care about. :3 I'm anxiously awaiting for the grades of our anatomy final to get posted so I can relax because I'm nervous that I did so poorly on the final that it dropped my A to a B. :(

@Lexi- I'm hopeful that the psych isn't too big of a deal to them. I'm sure you did great on your final!!! I'm lucky in that my A&P final is not cumulative...but the professor has decided to put the respiratory chapter on this last test even though he never lectured on it (snow day). I'm not too thrilled about that. Should be funsies.

@Allie- I got my A. :D So now I just need to wait for all my grades to be posted and I'll be golden. :) I do have to take nutrition for the other schools I applied to though, but it's okay cause it's online.

So how did it go? :)

Hello hopefuls......

Kinda lurking around here and noticed this thread. Just finished all my prereqs at VCU for the program. Anatomy was stressing me out pretty bad...thank goodness that is over. Its taken me since this past spring, summer and fall to get everything in. What do you guys think are my chances:

Currently volunteering at a rescue squad, solid recommendations from professors

Took all program prereqs at VCU: all A's in anatomy, physiology, medical micro, stat, development psych, whatever else i had to take

Overall VCU gpa: 4.0

Took the SAT in 2004: 1350 (i think they changed it since then, right? it was like 620 math and 730 verbal i think)

Was an Army medic for 4 years prior to going to VCU

And before the Army, i earned a BA in History from Univ. of Mary Washington with like a 3.1 ---that is my weakest spot, and i used my personal statement to explain myself a bit and the changes i've made since then after being a medic, we'll see though

I might also apply to Bons Secours, but I would be totally bummed out to not get into VCU's program though. Fingers crossed!

@Lexi - Congratulations on your A!!! Don't forget to send an updated official transcript so they can add that grade into your file for evaluation!

I wound up with a B+ for A&P I. Bah humbug... I blame it on having 2 different professors (prof #1 popped a baby out a month after class started so prof #2- an adjunct- took over and was essentially just reading slides, not teaching). Hopefully next semester will go better.

@phish85, you sound like a very competitive candidate! Acing the prerequisites is not an easy thing to do.. plus 4 years experience as an army medic and current experience volunteering. I'd be surprised if you didn't get in!

A little over a month until we find out if we got in! It seems like yesterday that we were all complaining that it was 5 months out. I hope everyone has a safe and restful holiday!
