Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency Program

Published

Does anyone have any advice on how to make a strong letter of intent for Vanderbilt's Nurse residency program? I know they accept a lot of applicants for each cohort but I'm not sure how many people actually apply and how competetive it actually is. If there is anyone on here that is currently in the program, was previously or knows anyone who has gone through the program, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Angel_RN_1,

I noticed that you are already in the Vandy Nurse Residency Program. Which track are you in? How is it going? Could you describe a typical day of the program? Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated. I am anxiously waiting to see if I got an interview or not!

Thanks in advance!

i am in the critical care track. each week we have two days of classroom and 3 days of rotations on the various critical care units. there really isn't a "typical day". this is just our 3rd week into it and so far everyday has been different. our match day is march 8th and we will be placed on a unit. you can get more info about our cohort on vandy's website.

Hey all! I applied a few weeks back and a few days after my application was turned in I got the same e-mail saying that they had received my packet and they would notify me of the next step mid-February. Just waiting! I hope they let us know soon! If anyone gets another email from them let us know ASAP! Angel_RN_1 if we get interviews would you be willing to give us some information about the set up of the interview and what kind of questions they ask? Thanks so much for the help! By the way I am from Florida...I go to the University of Florida in Gainesville...I went to high school in Miami though.

Hey all!

Ok...so, I just got an email saying that i have been selected for the interview process and that i have to email back dates that work well for me to go in and have the interview. I am soooo excited!!! Good luck to everyone and Angel: If you could help out with any info about the interview, it will be appreciated! :)

I didn't get selected for an interview. :-( I'm pretty bummed- I know it would be a great program and experience. The only positive side is the $18/hour that I was told Vandy offers. RNs right out of school make $28/hour where I live, so taking a 10 dollar pay cut would've been a tough decision. Good luck to those with interviews!

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

thank you for your cooperation. the best of luck to all of you!

Hi! I just got an email about an interview in the Pediatric Track for Summer 2010. I am from northern Illinois. Does anybody know how many get selected for jobs after the interview process? And also what kinds of questions to expect? I'm really excited!

Yay!!! I got an email that I was selected for an interview as well! Any info/suggestions about the interview would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Slv50...don't be too hard on yourself... I didn't get selected either.

Congrats to everyone who did get selected though!! :)

I wasn't selected either... I'm definitely disappointed, but on to the next! Good luck to all of you who were selected, and to those who were not in your continued search!

good luck to all of you
