Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency Program

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Does anyone have any advice on how to make a strong letter of intent for Vanderbilt's Nurse residency program? I know they accept a lot of applicants for each cohort but I'm not sure how many people actually apply and how competetive it actually is. If there is anyone on here that is currently in the program, was previously or knows anyone who has gone through the program, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi!

I am new to this board, but I am so excited!

I was selected for an interview too.

Adult Track.

Just wondering, what are your first choices?

congrats and good luck to those that were selected for an interview. africahasmy - I chose Adult Medicine Track. What is your first choice?

Specializes in Cardiac Critical Care.

My first choice is adult critical care! I would love love to get into the program with any track though. When are you guys scheduling your interviews? I dont get my preceptorship schedule for a few days so I'm probably going to wait for a few days to email back.

I chose Adult Medicine 1st and Adult Critical Care 2nd :-)

I have to look at my schedule a bit more before I email them back to set up the interview.

I chose the Pediatric Track as my first choice. I am going for my interview the second week in March, during my spring break, because I have a long drive...I am so excited though!

Does anyone have any information on what the interview will consist of? How to prepare mentally and emotionally? Whether I get the position or not, I would like like it to be a positive learning experience and would appreciate any words of wisdom on preparation. Thanks!

AMC347 Congrats on getting selected for an Interview. I'll be there the same week for an interview for the Peds track too. Congrats to everyone who was selected and Best of Luck on your interview!

To anyone who has been through the process before, if you have any advice or help that you could give me for the interview I would greatly appreciate it!

I did not get selected for an interview and am so bummed!! Thought I would at least get an interview. Just out of curiosity...what was every ones GPA and previous work experience, that got selected for interviews?

I was selected for the adult track interview. I have a 3.6 and I've had some type of job in the medical field each summer, and I did the VA internship this past year. I know someone that has a 3.9 and at least as much experience as me that didn't get an interview for peds though, so I don't really understand. I guess maybe the peds track is more competitive. I wouldn't be too down on yourself though. Your opportunity will come.

Well, the only one I selected was peds so i'm guessing peds is even harder to get into then the adult tracks. I mean...I honestly don't know what more I could of done. I have a 3.6, worked in peds as a tech for almost 2 years, took my elective in peds (precepting), and precepted in peds my senior semester. Just makes me feel bad, ya know? But congrats to all who got selected for interviews! How exciting:yeah:

Do you have a BSN or an ASN? prefers BSNs.

How good do you think your references and letter of intent was?

Everything is on a point system. Summer cohort is very competetive. winter is not as competetive. not sure when you graduate, but you could try again for the next cohort because you still qualify to apply as long as you have less than 6 months of RN experience at the time of application.

I have a BSN. My references were both the highest scores...my teachers let me see them before they sealed them! I will graduate this may...
