Vanderbilt University PMHNP Fall 2024

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi! I wanted to network, discuss, and share with others regarding MSN (RN) applicants for  MSN Fall 2024 program.  I applied for PMHNP by priority deadline and am awaiting admission decisions! I was wonder what everyone's GPA is looking like or if anyone has experience with the application process?

Oh my goodness congrats! I didn't get any email.... ?? I'm super nervous now. Do you mind sharing when did you apply?

No don't be nervous!! To be fair they only told me I got in because I applied MTA and they just emailed me today saying I can either get accepted as OMTA or be put on the waitlist for MTA! They weren't just telling me I got in for no reason- but she did add that decisions will go out at the end of the week. I applied on October 15 at like 11:55pm LOL. Good luck ❤️ I hope you get in!

I am so nervous. I've been checking my email and portal every second ? Hoping to hear something today or tomorrow. She emailed me about considering OTMA, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Hey guys! I didn't see anything about when to hear back on the website. I heard mid Feb from the first respondent in this thread. Is there a website link or something like that anywhere saying 12/15? Or did you guys hear from people you knew who attended the program in the past?

Heard this on a zoom informational meeting. She said "before the Winter break.” Classes end on the 16th, according to the school calendar.

I thought PMHNP had to be done in Nashville?

I think that's the requirement if you don't have a BSN already.

Thank you for the clarification!

I'm so nervous. If y'all hear anything could you please let us know here? ?

Wow! That is super nice they get you guys a response before Winter break. Waiting til mid Feb for me just two years ago was brutal LOL!

Congrats to all! If you need an alumni mentor (for AGPC), I am available and happy to help ?

Did your application portal update to accepted?

Three of my friends were notified via a phone call on Tuesday afternoon around 3:30pm. They all applied to the FNP program though. My buddy said his portal did not change though. Very weird, confusing.

I applied to the AGPC track! I have been posting in here because I did not see any other threads. Did you enjoy the program?

I thoroughly enjoyed my program. Depends on the kind of person you are toward your education, I think. Obviously I think applying and getting into Vanderbilt shows you are highly motivated anyway, but I didn't think of myself as very academic nor did I have any support in my education from many prior to attending. BUT, once I got to the support was amazing. From clinical selection (it can be hard), to faculty understanding that "life happens," to even the hug I received on stage and Dr Hopkins (director of AGPC) sharing "I am so proud of you" after losing both my Dad and my MIL during the program- I made sure to make every moment count. My clinical faculty grading my assignments, presentations and such was voted as a Top NP in the nation (Dr. Melissa Smith); even so, every faculty member there is devoted to your education and well-being. I sure felt it. I just felt honored to be there and to be part of the program.

Some weeks were horrendous with studying (it's grad school LOL), but as long as you manage your time well and ask questions I think you will succeed!

I graduated 8/6, took boards 9/14 and passed, had two job offers 9/15 (they were NOT kidding about applying before you graduate), and I start 1/2/24 - also Vandy did not kid around that credentialing and such takes a long time. I live in Oregon. So, if you are one who is working.... keep your job even after accepting an NP gig and do not leave it until you have an official start date (if this applies to you). For me, I knew my start date would be 1/2/24 and so I took advantage of leaving my bedside RN gig a week ago so I can spend the holidays with family before launching into the new career.

Sorry, that ended up being longer than I anticipated. Hope what I share helps ?
