Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty MSN 2023

Updated:   Published

I'm applying to the Vanderbilt University Fall 2023 Pre-specialty MSN program and I just wanted to open up a topic since I hadn't seen one yet. I would appreciate and advice, tips, FAQ, experiences, etc.

I applied to the AGPCNP. I’m transitioning from dental hygiene to NP, hopefully ??Vandy is the only program I’m applying to so putting all my eggs in one basket too. I believe they said we would hear in December if we applied by the priority deadline.

@CD4 I believe everything was in by priority! And that's awesome! I can't wait for December.

Has anyone applied to the AGACNP specialty and heard back?

I never got an email that my app was ready for review… I also applied by priority. I applied a couple other years before priority and it was always a Feb decision. I didn’t do an online session this year. Are they doing interviews and that’s what they’re releasing in Dec?! I can’t imagine them getting through ALL apps for Dec decisions. That sounds like so much!

I wonder if they recorded those online info sessions

I didn’t get an email that mine was in review and I applied by priority as well. I also missed the info session that people are referencing! I looked for one recorded and found nothing and emailed admissions and they just sent me the link for the in person information sessions even though I asked if there were anymore zoom ones. Ugh

I was in the Zoom info session and we were told that we would be notified in December if we were pre specialty and in by priority deadline. The question about being notified in February came up and the counselor said definitely December for priority pre specialty. Hopefully this will be the case. I haven’t received anything saying my application is in review though.

I double checked that my application materials were all in so that may be why I got information that the application was all set to be reviewed! I don't remember them mentioning that they're doing interviews in the info session though!

I really can’t believe they’ll have decisions by December. That’s the fastest for all similar programs. Most programs will let you know if you are interviewing by Dec. To have read through all apps and have decisions made is wild. They must have everyone working quadruple overtime.

I also wonder if that means the accepted have to accept within a few weeks? That would be so tough given other schools wouldn’t have even given out decisions yet

I wonder that also! Crazy to think we may know in a few weeks!

I’m thinking that since it is rolling admissions the pre specialty applicants that they definitely want to offer admission to and any waitlisted are notified in December then they review all the applicants that applied after priority. Maybe?? I’m not sure how they do it so fast either except that each specialty takes different numbers of applicants and has their own admission team so it’s probably much more manageable than it seems. Then again I guess it also depends on how many applications are received I heard they get a lot. Either way I really hope we hear in December as it allows more time for planning a move.

For sure!! Not upset if the decisions go out by then, just wild to know they can make full blown decisions so quickly when other schools can’t/don’t. I did email admissions to ask as well because this is so different than how they usually do things. A few years back, they did interview decisions in Dec. Then got rid of interviews and went to all decisions in Feb.

If they release decisions in Dec, and make you accept/decline within a few weeks, imagine how that’ll impact the other decisions! People will have to pull out of their interviews

Oh yes that would be so hard! Do you happen to know how much deposit Vandy requires to accept a spot? I am not sure how much time they give you either. I only applied to Vandy this time but I’m sure most have applied to other schools too. Are there other programs similar to this one that allow non nursing degrees and are the same length? I have family in Nashville which makes it super appealing for me since the tuition is so expensive on its own.
