Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty MSN 2023

Updated:   Published

I'm applying to the Vanderbilt University Fall 2023 Pre-specialty MSN program and I just wanted to open up a topic since I hadn't seen one yet. I would appreciate and advice, tips, FAQ, experiences, etc.

Congrats to everyone! I'm apprehensive about going into this much debt... PMHNP focus. 160k is very scary to me! Anyone else feel the same?

It does scare me a little but I accepted anyway LOL ? I’m hoping to maybe get a Nurse Corp scholarship next year and that would help a lot. Since you are in Mental Health maybe check the VA, I know they are offering a generous scholarship for that specialty ?

Where I'm from, Pysch NPs are very well paid, so you'll likely pay them off quickly.

To all those who got accepted, Congratulations!

I submitted my application for the post MSN certification (PMHNP) late 11/28/22. I just received an email Monday saying my application is under review, and decisions will be out on February 1, 2023.

I was accepted into Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Nurse Midwifery program on Dec. 16th! So happy to receive it, but I ended up declining my offer of acceptance as I've also gotten into Columbia's MDE and Emory's MN programs. I hope my spot helps someone else get in! ?

I am currently deciding which program is the best for me. Would you mind sharing what made you decline Vanderbilt?

I'm not the original poster, but I made a similar decision. I was accepted at Vanderbilt, Emory and Case Western, and am still awaiting Yale. I had eliminated Emory right away, as they had provided the smallest scholarship offer, and then had to commit to either Vanderbilt or CWRU, as their response deadline came before Yale even releases their decisions.

I ended up choosing CWRU over Vanderbilt for a few reasons. A larger scholarship offer, the ability to complete two specialties as part of the MSN without having to reapply for a post-Master's certificate, and a very positive sense of the school I left with after my virtual interview with the Professor there.

If I end up getting accepted at Yale, I'll have to consider their scholarship offer (if any is even made) and then decide to forgo CWRU (and lose my deposit) and accept Yale, or stick with CWRU. I also emailed a few current CWRU students who all had very positive reviews of their experience there.

Hello! I applied to the CNM/FNP pre-specialty program and still hadn't heard anything but knew some people received decisions on Friday for other programs. I sent an email today asking if I could still expect to hear back by Feb 1, like they had said in December, and they responded saying that I could expect to hear back by the end of February. They said it can take longer because it's a dual program. I wish they wouldn't keep pushing back the notification deadline but just wanted to share in case others were like me anxiously sitting here!!

I've been checking my email and application non-stop but nothing yet. I applied for the post cert PMHNP program after priority deadline so my chances arent looking too great. Good luck to us!

Hi everyone, congrats on the acceptances. I will be applying for fall 2024 and would love to chat with someone about the application process and if they would like to share any tips.

I'm so relieved to hear that. I applied for the post-master AGPCNP past the deadline as well. I was told I would hear back in March but was curious to hear if you found out any sooner. Do they notify you through email?

?

Looking at the prior posts, it's notification thru email.  We still have a chance at this!

Received an update today. I am waitlisted for the post-cert PMHNP and I will accept it. Does anyone know what are the chances of getting off the wait list for post-cert PMHNP? Good luck to those still waiting!

Just FYI, "Waitlist clearing in some cases can be as late as July"
