  1. I ultimately attended UTHSC's dual concentration FNP/PMH DNP program. Reasons: 1. Same timeline - 3 yrs. 2. Cheaper tuition - public school - more scholarships available 3. Two Doctorates: One in FNP for generalized practice and the other in PMH for Psych 4. Diversity
  2. Hey. I got accepted however decided to go with another school so I cannot tell you how the program is. On another note, for interview questions... I don't remember. But you should know how to answer all of the questions listed below. 1. Tell me about yourself 2. Strengths and weaknesses 3. Why PMHNP 4. How can you contribute or what can you contribute 5. What do you see yourself doing after graduation 6. What is a nurse practitioner? 7. Why DNP and not MSN program? 8. Why our program? 9. How do you handle problematic patients or co-workers? 10. How do you handle stressful situations? 11. A clinical scenario.…
  3. It was a wonderful experience, and the teachers were great. It is a hard program because it is accelerated, so it is a lot of work, but it is doable. Time will fly. Some people were able to work every weekend. You can live in the grad dorms ($900/month?) on the medical campus or off campus. Rent is cheap in Augusta, GA. I got a studio with utilities, including $740/month. Classmates who rented out places together paid $400-$500/month. Very few students got scholarships. I used a GI bill; one friend paid out-of-state tuition with $, and the other paid out-of-state tuition using a loan. Other friends took loans for in-state tuition. Other students took out stipend deals from hospitals. If you go, get to know your professors and other professors well, as they can access scholarships and grants to which they can refer you. Cons: No diversity in the program. The school and the city are diverse, but racism still exists.
  4. I applied to the full-time DNP PMHNP. Got waitlisted. Around late May or early June 2023, I received a letter of acceptance into their part-time DNP PMHNP program. However, I declined because I had already accepted my offer for UTHSC DNP dual cert FNP/PMH. God had a better plan for me ?
  5. I recently got a call and an email asking if I was still interested in their PMNHP part-time MSN program, as I was waitlisted for the full time. I already had accepted an offer from the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center for the dual DNP program (PMH/FNP). I had to do a lot of reflection. The thought of being an alumnus at a Prestige school did cross my mind. I guess for me, there were a couple of reasons why I stayed firm on my decision with UTHSC. First, I want to do my DNP because I don't want to write any more admission essays, ask for L.O.R.s, pay for applications, and do more school interviews, and I already have an MSN. Secondly, I will be dual-certified once I am done and can practice in medical and in psych. Lastly, it's a very competitive program; there are only 6 open slots, and I got one of them. The DNP program at UTHSC is ranked 23 so not too bad. Good luck to you. I'm pretty sure you will make the right decision!
  6. Once you get a student ID and a login, you can check the UTHSC student housing and see profiles of other students looking for roommates. You can check out the housing list without a login. It will show you apartments, room rentals, and sublets. I saw a few room rentals from $450 to $1000.
  7. My max price is $1100 w/o utilities. Thank you for the recommendations. Congratulations on the interview and you got this!! God bless and good luck ?? Hey congratulations! That is still a win ?
  8. Good morning, No, I haven't yet. I have been looking at apartments nonstop but I need to quit doing that until July gets here. I don't plan on getting there until July 27. My RN license is still being endorsed over to TN, so until then, I will continue working here in TX. How about you? Congratulations on the admission!!
  9. I made a facebook page for those who were admitted to the program and are class of 2026. https://www.facebook.com/groups/211504797866632/permalink/211508101199635/?mibextid=W9rl1R
  10. Hi, I have been an LPN/LVN for the past 12 years with most of my experiences in behavioral health (inpatient psych adult pts, geriatric Alzheimer/dementia, and detox) prior to graduating from my MSN program last year. Now I am working in the ICU ( <6 months RN). As for the interview, it was through Kiara. I didn't feel great afterward, so this acceptance was a surprised to me! Before applying to this program, Dominique (UTHSC rep) told me to take a chance and apply this year, so I did! Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
  11. Hello Ms. Woods, I submitted my application a day or two before March 15 (past priority) and received my acceptance letter April 24th via email - so it took about a month. I honestly didn't think I was going to get in since the class is small and I was told it was a very competitive program. Since application deadline is May 1st according to nursingcas and according to my acceptance letter, doc requirements are due by May 31st, my guess is that decisions should be out soon. I don't have a student ID yet and had called admission this past Tuesday. They told me I would have it by today or by the end of next week to deposit the $200 and lock my position.
  12. Hello, last month, I got accepted into the University of TN Health and science center's DNP dual FNP/PMH in Memphis, TN. I was wondering if anyone else wants to connect before starting the program. I'm moving from Texas and would love to be roommates with other DNP students if we connect to save myself some money or be friends. I also don't mind living by myself. I do have an indoor Persian cat. I don't know the area well but have heard about the city being dangerous. Please do advise if you know the area well. TIA.
  13. I received my acceptance letter this morning, but will not be attending. Hopefully it'll give someone else a chance to achieve their dream.
