Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Entry 2021

I noticed there was not a thread created for Vanderbilt pre-specialty nursing for 2021, so I created one. Is anyone already preparing for this upcoming application cycle?

I applied after the deadline for NM track I was not accepted.  Congratulations to all those that got in! ❤️ 

I plan to reapply,  PRE-SPECIALTY ENTRY 2022, here I come ?

@PinkFreudyou were admitted to the MSN-PMHNP program, which is what your letter states. PreSpecialty is your entry type.

I got into the AGPC route! Admitted students day is March 12, virtual.

Admitted student day not until the 12th. 

CONGRATS to those admitted! 

Anyone here deciding between Yale and Vandy? Yale's deposit is due next Monday and I am completely on the fence, so I feel like I need to make a decision in the next week. (Extremely wonderful situation to be in, I am so grateful!)

Hi, I am wondering if there is a current prespecialty student that can provide some information:

1) Are the didactic classes online right now due to COVID?

2) How many days do you have to be at Vanderbilt for classes?

3) In terms of clinicals, what's your schedule like?

I remember how many concerns and questions I had during the application process last year, so I'm happy to be a resource if you have questions!

Saw the post above about cost. For 2020-2021, the tuition is roughly $74K for the PreSpecialty year and $70K for the Specialty year (this will likely increase for 2021-2022). You will receive an email about financial aid and tuition cost even before you're accepted, so keep an eye out. I think I received it in January. Of course, there are other costs that you need to be prepared for (housing, books, supplies, scrubs, etc), but they will offer you a loan that should be able to cover all of that in case you need it.

@Happy Meow I am hoping you can answer some questions as a current Vandy student. Can you tell me what your schedule is like? From Monday to Friday, how many classes/days are online, which days you have to be on campus, for how long? What about the clinicals for the prespecialty year? Are there specific days for clinicals? Are the clinicals at the Vandy hospital? Trying to evaluate the program in terms of the schedule....any information would be great.

@queenrusIf you haven't attended one of the admission information sessions that their admissions staff does every Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, https://apply.vanderbilt.edu/portal/nursing_info_session, I do encourage you to sign up for one. They answer all of these questions you are asking here. I encourage everyone on here that has been admitted or plans to reapply to attend one of these sessions, plus the open house March 27 and if admitted, attend the "Admitted Student" day on March 12!
