Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Applicants 2014

Published

Hey everyone! I couldn't find this thread anywhere so figured that I would start one for all of us who applied to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Entry program (for non-RNs) this fall. I applied for the PMHNP specialty. What about you?! :)

Do they interview all specialties?

I believe for PMHNP it is required that the candidates get interviewed. For the others it is on a case by case basis interviews aren't required but may be used to supplement the application. Hope this helps.Thank you for the well wishes mzaur :)I just have to remember to breathe.

I have my interview on the 13th! Woohoo :-D

The I interview seemed to go well it was relaxed and pretty straight forward. They only asked a few questions and kept it brief. Time will tell, I am just relieved it's over.

That's awesome mzaur!

Thanks for sharing your experience! So your interview wasn't that long? I was told in the email that it would be 30 minutes. Also did they mention when you'd have a decision? Just curious

The interview was about 20 minutes they called 10 minutes late and had another appointment at noon. They said that we would hear back by March 1. From reading the older forums people heard back as early as the beginning of February.

Thanks for clarifying. That's what I thought, but at this point, different programs are swirling around in my brain, so I'm not always sure I'm remembering the details correctly. Congrats to those of you already scheduling interviews!

I know there has been a bunch of confusion about this, but does anyone know if they interview nurse-midwifery applicants as well as PMHNP applicants? Have any nurse-midwifery applicants gotten interviews so far?

They don't necessarily interview all CNM applicants, but they can request an interview if they have additional questions. PMHNP interviews are required.

I got an email today to schedule my CNM/FNP interview for next week.

Of course, the more I think about it, the more I realize that may mean I'm on the edge and they aren't really convinced, since I don't think they interview everyone. I guess I'll just be glad for the opportunity to convince them. Positive thoughts!
