Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2018

Published

Hello!

I am graduating in December and I have the summer off so I've begun looking at potential places that I'd like to work.

I'm thinking I'd like to do a nurse residency because I want to work in a pediatric Critical Care setting (PICU or Peds ER) and I feel like having that whole year with someone helping me and that I can ask questions without feeling like an annoying dummy.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here was looking at Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency for February 2018? I'm not from Nashville, but I'm also not too far away as I'm from North Alabama. I'd appreciate any tips about the residency or about Nashville!

Thanks

My top choices are organ transplant and neuro

Anyone else on surgical that have been placed on a unit?? Aubsn was that what you wanted?

Yes, neuro or spinal were my top choices for the adult surgical track. However, I really wanted pediatrics originally.

Has anyone tried again with submitting stuff like the conflict of interest or direct deposit info? Is it still on lockdown for us?

Does anyone know how many vacation days we get during the residency program?

From my understanding, they don't like people requesting off during orientation. I don't know about the rest of the residency time.

Do we get paid for working holidays?

So excited! I got the email for onboarding stuff! It's starting to feel more real! Cannot wait until I'm there! Congrats to everyone starting next week! Also, if anyone could explain the process for TN initial application with exam to me because me and a classmate got very confused by the website. We both start in February and our class is mostly staying in Alabama so it's more simple for our college to say "if you're not sure choose to get licensed here then transfer". So I'd love help with the TN BON application. I tried calling but the lady wasn't very helpful and referred me to the website I was already looking at while calling her. I've already got my fingerprint card on its way here. What do I do next?

Is the onboarding portal giving anyone else an error message? I've been getting it for a couple days, but want to make sure I'm not the only one before emailing them.

I haven't tried it yet. I'm scared that the email is just a part of my imagination and once I actually click on any links, everything will disappear. I already had a nightmare that NCLEX was a huge hallucination and everything disappeared when I got to question 75. I haven't even graduated yet!

Question for those who already know the specific unit they'll work on, do you guys know what shift you're on as well? It seems like most of you guys are surgical track so anyone from cardiac stepdown or elsewhere?

CONGRATS EVERYONE WHO STARTED TODAY! I'm so excited for you guys!

Hi. I'm going to be applying for the nicu residency soon. I was wondering how your interview went and if you have any advice? Thanks!

Specializes in PICU.

Hi everyone! My name is Tori, and I'm applying to the nurse residency to begin in July 2018. I'll be applying to the Pediatrics track. If anyone has any advice on their experience with the application/interview process, that would be appreciated! Thank you!

Also, have you all received your beginning salary? I'm from Jersey and would need to move down to TN.
