Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer/Fall 2019

Nurses Career Support

Hi everyone!

I haven’t seen a thread for Vanderbilt applicants for the Summer/Fall 2019 cohort, so I thought I would get us started!

What track are you applying to and why? Have you submitted your application and letter of intent?

I got waitlisted for Peds Acute Care. Got the email today.

I’m curious how this works. From their websites FAQ and previous forums, I was under the impression people were waitlisted after the interview process, but I guess there’s two separate waitlists, one for before interviews and one for those who interviewed but weren’t extended a position right away? The email says we’ll be contacted about possible openings for interviews in the coming weeks but I guess I’m still a bit confused. Anyone have any insight?

Congrats! Did you put adult acute care as one of your 4 track choices or did they just offer it to you instead?

Yeah I put it as my third choice but I didn't think they would give it to me. Finally got the email too and it says we're only offered one place to interview at.

I got waitlisted but in the email they didn’t say for which floor? How do you guys all know what youre waitlisted for?

I was just thinking about this. My email didn’t say for a specific track either, I was just assuming based off of my listed choices but it’s probably more likely that we are just waitlisted in general

I was waitlisted as well. I applied for pretty much all critical care, CVICU, SICU, and just ICU. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll still hear something from them!

Good luck to all of you. I've been selected for a recorded question/answer session type interview for a residency in DE. I'm happy to just have been selected for this first round. My concern is my age. I'm 53. Have any of you heard of residency programs hiring in my age range?

I only had two choices on my application? I applied for Neuro ICU and "Adult critical care"... strange!

Has anyone had their interview yet?

i had an interview this week, was recommended for hire, however slots for the CVICU for which i applied has been filled, I was put on the waiting list. i was told by a former resident they only take 3 people for the CVICU. I guess I'll just move on and accept other opportunities.

Adult CVICU?

Hi guys,

Im graduating from University of Michigan in May. Applied to Vanderbilt's RN Residency program back in January. I am interested in pediatrics! Critical care would be ideal, but for my critical care clinical rotation this year I was placed in an ambulatory PACU (yeah, so I don't have any actual critical care experience). However, for the PCICU they didn't require ICU experience like the all the other ICU units. So I ranked PCICU as my #1.

Got the call for PCICU interview about two weeks ago. Only available interview slots for that unit were during second week on March. So, I am interviewing this upcoming Monday.

Anybody else interviewing for peds?? Also, any additional info or tips regarding the interview process? I am stoked but definitely nervous.

How was the interview?
