Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2017

Nurses New Nurse

Published

I know I am WAY ahead on this, but I just wanted to see who all was applying for VUMC nurse residency program in the summer 2017? The application opens up on December 9th and I want to apply for the Adult Critical Care Track! If anyone has any tips on the application, please feel free to comment! :) I know it's a long time coming, but I just want to see who out there will be applying!

Im from Ohio and applied for the SICU! Good luck everyone! I believe the application officially closed today

Specializes in CRNA.

I am from Tallahassee Florida and I am 23!

Stumbled upon this thread. I graduated nursing school in May 2016 and for unforeseen reasons, was not sure I would even be moving to Nashville until way after the application deadline for summer 2016. Because of finances, I couldn't push back my application and needed to start working right away so I got a job at another hospital, sucked it up, and learned a lot. After only working for 6 months at another facility, I applied to my dream job at children's and was offered the job within a week of applying! Moral of the story-- it's very worthwhile to be a nurse there and don't give up on your dreams! You might not get your first choice of unit but take it because it's easier to transfer when your foot is already in the door or you might get rejected from the residency but Vanderbilt is currently doing a LOT of hiring for experienced nurses so you can always get there if your will is strong enough! Good luck to all of you and I hope to see you all at Vandy this summer :)

I applied for MICU position but quite honestly found it hard narrowing it down to just one preference! I'm from out of state- Illinois/Wisconsin - but after visiting Nashville over winter break with my family and saw 's campus I got so excited to apply! Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone! I applied for the Pediatric ED track. I'm from Louisiana and looking forward to possibly moving to Nashville. Anyone else doing a pediatric track?

What part of Illinois/Wisconsin are you from? I applied for the Trauma-ICU :) Good Luck to you!!!

Love your words of encouragement!!!! So uplifting!

Hi nashRN16,

Thanks or your words of encouragement :) What other hospital did you work at if you don't mind me asking? I have an interview scheduled for a different hospital at the moment and I believe they ask you to commit before Vanderbilt even notifies potential interviewees. I really don't know my chances of being accepted to Vanderbilt's NRP (I had no preceptorship/externship, and no work/volunteer experience within the last 6 months- big components of the application), and I don't want to give up this other opportunity if it ends up working out. What do you think?

Hi guys! It is so great to see ya'll applying for the residency program! I am in my third semester of nursing school and plan on applying for the residency program during December of this year! This post gives me so much motivation!

Hey everyone! I know it's only been a few days since the deadline for applications, but I just wanted to wish everyone good luck! I think about this job opportunity all the time because it is something I want very badly! If anyone hears anything back please share :) Also, if anyone has heard anything from others about a timeline for the whole process that would be great! I saw the start dates on the website, but I'm just curious about when we might hear something or when interviews might be...

Hey y'all! I started in the nurse residency at Vanderbilt last year, and would be happy to try and help answer any questions! It's a crazy whirlwind process, but so worth it in the end!

Any tips/hints/thoughts for the interview process?
