Vanderbilt MSN 2019

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Fall 2019. Anyone else applying/re-applying too? Please comment!

The email did not mention anything about a glitch. It sound like the only reason we have not heard anything is because decisions have not been made. Idk im probably reading too much into it but the wait is awful :( One more week hopefully..

"We wanted to let you know that the fall 2019 admission decisions have not been released yet. We anticipate that they will be released before the end of February. When decisions have been made, you will receive an email indicating there has been an update to your application status. When you open the email, you will see your electronic decision letter.

If there is any change in this timeline, we will send you another email. We understand that it is hard to wait for a decision.

Kind regards,

School of Nursing Admissions Office"

Thank you! Still no email for me! I'm just hoping that's not a bad sign!

No prob! and I'm sure it's not! They're probably just sending them out in batches!

I received the same email a hour ago

5 seconds away from losing it. Got a call from another school today that some paperwork got lost delaying them from reviewing my application. Thankfully it was their fault and they are allowing me to send it again but man did I cried a little. It’s like now I’m going to have less than 3 months to make plans to move from Iowa to wherever and I just want to know what’s going on. ? I know a lot of you are feeling the same way.

After speaking with the admissions office regarding the open house, here is an overview of the conversation....Yes, the open house is intended for potential applicants to learn more about Vanderbilt's programs and entries to determine whether this is a good fit prior to applying. Over the year's admitted students were attending the spring open house to learn more after the fact, so they have added a 45 minute admitted student session that includes information from student affairs & clinical placement, along with a separate session for family members.

The morning sessions are separated by entry, PreSpecialty, Direct Entry (BSN)/Post Master's and ASN. They go over "Why Vanderbilt", careers as an Advanced Practice RN, curriculum format. They have a student panel to answer your questions and financial aid gives a presentation and has opportunities in the afternoon for you to meet with the financial aid director one on one. They do go over the application process, but that is when the "Admitted Student" session is held. The afternoon sessions are broken down by specialty. These are smaller group sessions with the Specialty Director and they cover the curriculum, format of the program (block) and clinical placement details.

I think that was pretty much everything they said!

I got the email as well this morning. In defense of the admissions team, in the interview they did say "By the end of February". More specifically, "Call us if you have not heard from us by the end of February".

Would hate to work there March 1 if we do not have emails.

I know everyone is focused on when decisions come out, but I'm also really concerned about the open house/student admitted day. If I get accepted (hopefully), I really want to attend the student admitted day. I'd be coming all the way from California and flights alone are already $500+.... I know that Emory posted the presentations they had for students admitted day. Does anyone know if Vanderbilt does the same?

Ouch. I just looked, and they’re even higher now. I can’t afford that. BUT, I highly recommend to anyone that they try to go to every school at some point before they decide. Back in the day, I was going to Yale’s Midwifery program, but my loan fell through. UPenn was throwing money at me, so I went there, sight unseen, bc it was #1 at the time. I hated the school, I lived off campus on a crack alley, and was mugged twice with my then 4 year old, one of which was on campus. I had no idea what I was getting into in Philly, and I ended up leaving. It’s taken me a long time to get back to my dream. Because of that experience, I know what to look for for myself. ?

Just curious who folks interviewed with? I interviewed with a British lady and another guy named Chance. What about y’all?

I interviewed for PMHNP with the program director Dawn and another female professor who's name I can't remember. She was more softer speaking. This was two weeks ago and they called me the morning of to set up the phone interview later in the day.

This sucks. Most outside scholarship deadlines are already over and you can’t really apply for them without knowing what college you’ve been accepted to.
