Hi! I'm starting a thread for Vanderbilt MSN Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!

My guess is some will start to come out tomorrow after 5pm CST.

She might be going for a different degree/reason. Everyone is already super nervous. I don't think her comment was that dramatic.

Has anyone else here been accepted to Boston College and would be considering Vandy vs BC? What are your thoughts / comparisons between the two programs? I like how BC secures clinical placements for you...

I figured I won't take the comparison too seriously unless I get into Vandy, and to not spend too much time at this point worrying, but just wanted to see if others were in the same boat!

Yes if I get in to Vandy I will be choosing between the two. Honestly the biggest draw for me is that I'd only have to relocate for a year at Vandy and BC would be two. Probably not the best way to decide but my family boyfriend and life is here in MN so definitely weighing on my mind. However I went to BC as an undergrad, so I am familiar with the school and most of my friends are still in the Boston area so that is also a factor for me.

In terms of the actual programs I feel like both are good. I get the feeling that both really care about their students and want you to succeed and will help you however they can (including helping you find placements by connecting you with alum and past connections for Vandy). But like you said trying to not get too ahead of myself!

I'm in the same boat! Cost is a huge factor for me and Boston's program seems to be a bit cheaper (though with cost of living it might even out a bit). If Vanderbilt gave me money, I would probably consider it. I also don't think I like the idea of finding my own placements and would rather be somewhere for two years instead of relocating twice. Boston also seems like such a fun city and is similar to Chicago (where I'm from) in terms of size/weather/things to do!

When I had my interview, my interviewer told me that any program that has you find your own clinical placements is not a good program and that Vanderbilt has clinical sites throughout the country that they hook you up with
